5 And they will deceive every one his neighbor, and will not speak the truth: they have taught their tongue to speak lies; they weary themselves to commit iniquity.
For the rich men thereof are full of violence, and the inhabitants thereof have spoken lies, and their tongue is deceitful in their mouth.
For thine iniquity teacheth thy mouth, And thou choosest the tongue of the crafty.
through the hypocrisy of men that speak lies, branded in their own conscience as with a hot iron;
Wherefore, putting away falsehood, speak ye truth each one with his neighbor: for we are members one of another.
O my people, what have I done unto thee? and wherein have I wearied thee? testify against me.
She hath wearied `herself' with toil; yet her great rust goeth not forth out of her; her rust `goeth not forth' by fire.
And they bend their tongue, `as it were' their bow, for falsehood; and they are grown strong in the land, but not for truth: for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith Jehovah.
transgressing and denying Jehovah, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood. And justice is turned away backward, and righteousness standeth afar off; for truth is fallen in the street, and uprightness cannot enter. Yea, truth is lacking; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey. And Jehovah saw it, and it displeased him that there was no justice.
The smith `maketh' an axe, and worketh in the coals, and fashioneth it with hammers, and worketh it with his strong arm: yea, he is hungry, and his strength faileth; he drinketh no water, and is faint. The carpenter stretcheth out a line; he marketh it out with a pencil; he shapeth it with planes, and he marketh it out with the compasses, and shapeth it after the figure of a man, according to the beauty of a man, to dwell in a house. He heweth him down cedars, and taketh the holm-tree and the oak, and strengtheneth for himself one among the trees of the forest: he planteth a fir-tree, and the rain doth nourish it.
They help every one his neighbor; and `every one' saith to his brother, Be of good courage. So the carpenter encourageth the goldsmith, `and' he that smootheth with the hammer him that smiteth the anvil, saying of the soldering, It is good; and he fasteneth it with nails, that is should not be moved.
For they sleep not, except they do evil; And their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
They have sharpened their tongue like a serpent; Adders' poison is under their lips. Selah
Thou givest thy mouth to evil, And thy tongue frameth deceit.
Behold, he travaileth with iniquity; Yea, he hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood.
