14 Not [as] chiding do I write these things to you, but as my beloved children I admonish [you].
as ye know how, as a father his own children, we used to exhort each one of you, and comfort and testify,
For if ye should have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet not many fathers; for in Christ Jesus *I* have begotten you through the glad tidings.
Wherefore watch, remembering that for three years, night and day, I ceased not admonishing each one [of you] with tears.
I speak to you [to put you] to shame. Thus there is not a wise person among you, not even one, who shall be able to decide between his brethren!
Awake up righteously, and sin not; for some are ignorant of God: I speak to you as a matter of shame.
Our mouth is opened to you, Corinthians, our heart is expanded. Ye are not straitened in us, but ye are straitened in your affections; but for an answering recompense, (I speak as to children,) let *your* heart also expand itself.
Behold, this third time I am ready to come to you, and I will not be in laziness a charge; for I do not seek yours, but you; for the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children. Now *I* shall most gladly spend and be utterly spent for your souls, if even in abundantly loving you I should be less loved.
whom *we* announce, admonishing every man, and teaching every man, in all wisdom, to the end that we may present every man perfect in Christ.
But we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, comfort the faint-hearted, sustain the weak, be patient towards all.
