14 But Israel stretched out his right hand, and laid [it] on Ephraim's head -- now he was the younger -- and his left hand on Manasseh's head; guiding his hands intelligently, for Manasseh was the firstborn.
And Joseph called the name of the firstborn Manasseh -- For God has made me forget all my toil, and all my father's house.
Then there were brought to him little children that he might lay his hands on them and pray; but the disciples rebuked them.

The time drawing nigh that Israel must die, having, in the former chapter, given order about his burial, in this he takes leave of his grand-children by Joseph, and in the next of all his children. Thus Jacob's dying words are recorded, because he then spoke by a spirit of prophecy; Abraham's and Isaac's are not.
