52 The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can he give us this flesh to eat?
Some of the Pharisees therefore said, This man is not of God, for he does not keep the sabbath. Others said, How can a sinful man perform such signs? And there was a division among them.
There was a division again among the Jews on account of these words;

Nicodemus says to him, How can a man be born being old? can he enter a second time into the womb of his mother and be born?
[Some] out of the crowd therefore, having heard this word, said, This is truly the prophet. Others said, This is the Christ. Others said, Does then the Christ come out of Galilee? Has not the scripture said that the Christ comes of the seed of David, and from the village of Bethlehem, where David was? There was a division therefore in the crowd on account of him.

Jhn 6:60-71
We have here an account of the effects of Christ's discourse. Some were offended and others edified by it; some driven from him and others brought nearer to him.
