55 In that hour Jesus said to the crowds, Are ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks to take me? I sat daily [with you] teaching in the temple, and ye did not seize me.
And Jesus answering said [as he was] teaching in the temple, How do the scribes say that the Christ is son of David?
And early in the morning he came again into the temple, and all the people came to him; and he sat down and taught them.
And by day he was teaching in the temple, and by night, going out, he remained abroad on the mountain called [the mount] of Olives; and all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple to hear him.
And Jesus said to the chief priests and captains of the temple and elders, who were come against him, Have ye come out as against a robber with swords and sticks? When I was day by day with you in the temple ye did not stretch out your hands against me; but this is your hour and the power of darkness.
Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me and ye know whence I am; and I am not come of myself, but he that sent me is true, whom ye do not know.
Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I taught always in [the] synagogue and in the temple, where all the Jews come together, and in secret I have spoken nothing. Why demandest thou of me? Demand of those who have heard, what I have spoken to them; behold, they know what I have said.
