25 And when they were departed H3212 from him, (for they left H5800 him in great H7227 diseases,) H4251 his own servants H5650 conspired H7194 against him for the blood H1818 of the sons H1121 of Jehoiada H3077 the priest, H3548 and slew H2026 him on his bed, H4296 and he died: H4191 and they buried H6912 him in the city H5892 of David, H1732 but they buried H6912 him not in the sepulchres H6913 of the kings. H4428
And they conspired H7194 against him, and stoned H7275 him with stones H68 at the commandment H4687 of the king H4428 in the court H2691 of the house H1004 of the LORD. H3068 Thus Joash H3101 the king H4428 remembered H2142 not the kindness H2617 which Jehoiada H3077 his father H1 had done H6213 to him, but slew H2026 his son. H1121 And when he died, H4194 he said, H559 The LORD H3068 look H7200 upon it, and require H1875 it.
And his servants H5650 arose, H6965 and made H7194 a conspiracy, H7195 and slew H5221 Joash H3101 in the house H1004 of Millo, H4407 H1037 which goeth down H3381 to Silla. H5538 For Jozachar H3108 the son H1121 of Shimeath, H8100 and Jehozabad H3075 the son H1121 of Shomer, H7763 his servants, H5650 smote H5221 him, and he died; H4191 and they buried H6912 him with his fathers H1 in the city H5892 of David: H1732 and Amaziah H558 his son H1121 reigned H4427 in his stead.
Now they made H7194 a conspiracy H7195 against him in Jerusalem: H3389 and he fled H5127 to Lachish; H3923 but they sent H7971 after H310 him to Lachish, H3923 and slew H4191 him there. And they brought H5375 him on horses: H5483 and he was buried H6912 at Jerusalem H3389 with his fathers H1 in the city H5892 of David. H1732
And after H310 all this the LORD H3068 smote H5062 him in his bowels H4578 with an incurable H369 H4832 disease. H2483 And it came to pass, that in process of time, H3117 after H3318 H6256 the end H7093 of two H8147 years, H3117 his bowels H4578 fell out H3318 by reason H5973 of his sickness: H2483 so he died H4191 of sore H7451 diseases. H8463 And his people H5971 made H6213 no burning H8316 for him, like the burning H8316 of his fathers. H1 Thirty H7970 and two H8147 years old H1121 was he when he began to reign, H4427 and he reigned H4427 in Jerusalem H3389 eight H8083 years, H8141 and departed H3212 without being desired. H2532 Howbeit they buried H6912 him in the city H5892 of David, H1732 but not in the sepulchres H6913 of the kings. H4428

Commentary on 2 Chronicles 24 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 24
We have here the history of the reign of Joash, the progress of which, and especially its termination, were not of a piece with its beginning, nor shone with so much lustre. How wonderfully he was preserved for the throne, and placed in it, we read before; now here we are told how he began in the spirit, but ended in the flesh.
2Ch 24:1-14
This account of Joash's good beginnings we had as it stands here 2 Ki. 12:1, etc., though the latter part of this chapter, concerning his apostasy, we had little of there. What is good in men we should take all occasions to speak of and often repeat it; what is evil we should make mention of but sparingly, and no more than is needful. We shall here only observe,
2Ch 24:15-27
We have here a sad account of the degeneracy and apostasy of Joash. God had done great things for him; he had done something for God; but now he proved ungrateful to his God and false to the engagements he had laid himself under to him. How has the gold become dim, and the most fine gold changed! Here we find,
