8 Blessed H1288 be the LORD H3068 thy God, H430 which delighted H2654 in thee to set H5414 thee on his throne, H3678 to be king H4428 for the LORD H3068 thy God: H430 because thy God H430 loved H160 Israel, H3478 to establish H5975 them for ever, H5769 therefore made H5414 he thee king H4428 over them, to do H6213 judgment H4941 and justice. H6666
But G1161 unto G4314 the Son G5207 he saith, Thy G4675 throne, G2362 O God, G2316 is for G1519 ever G165 and ever: G165 a sceptre G4464 of righteousness G2118 is the sceptre G4464 of thy G4675 kingdom. G932 Thou hast loved G25 righteousness, G1343 and G2532 hated G3404 iniquity; G458 therefore G1223 G5124 God, G2316 even thy G4675 God, G2316 hath anointed G5548 thee G4571 with the oil G1637 of gladness G20 above G3844 thy G4675 fellows. G3353
For G3754 the administration G1248 of this G5026 service G3009 not G3756 only G3440 supplieth G2076 G4322 the want G5303 of the saints, G40 but G235 is abundant G4052 also G2532 by G1223 many G4183 thanksgivings G2169 unto God; G2316 Whiles by G1223 the experiment G1382 of this G5026 ministration G1248 they glorify G1392 God G2316 for G1909 your G5216 professed G3671 subjection G5292 unto G1519 the gospel G2098 of Christ, G5547 and G2532 for your liberal G572 distribution G2842 unto G1519 them, G846 and G2532 unto G1519 all G3956 men; And G2532 by their G846 prayer G1162 for G5228 you, G5216 which long after G1971 you G5209 for G1223 the exceeding G5235 grace G5485 of God G2316 in G1909 you. G5213 G1161 Thanks G5485 be unto God G2316 for G1909 his G846 unspeakable G411 gift. G1431
In those days, H3117 and at that time, H6256 will I cause the Branch H6780 of righteousness H6666 to grow up H6779 unto David; H1732 and he shall execute H6213 judgment H4941 and righteousness H6666 in the land. H776 In those days H3117 shall Judah H3063 be saved, H3467 and Jerusalem H3389 shall dwell H7931 safely: H983 and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, H7121 The LORD our righteousness. H3072
Behold, a king H4428 shall reign H4427 in righteousness, H6664 and princes H8269 shall rule H8323 in judgment. H4941 And a man H376 shall be as an hiding place H4224 from the wind, H7307 and a covert H5643 from the tempest; H2230 as rivers H6388 of water H4325 in a dry place, H6724 as the shadow H6738 of a great H3515 rock H5553 in a weary H5889 land. H776
And there shall come forth H3318 a rod H2415 out of the stem H1503 of Jesse, H3448 and a Branch H5342 shall grow H6509 out of his roots: H8328 And the spirit H7307 of the LORD H3068 shall rest H5117 upon him, the spirit H7307 of wisdom H2451 and understanding, H998 the spirit H7307 of counsel H6098 and might, H1369 the spirit H7307 of knowledge H1847 and of the fear H3374 of the LORD; H3068 And shall make him of quick understanding H7306 in the fear H3374 of the LORD: H3068 and he shall not judge H8199 after the sight H4758 of his eyes, H5869 neither reprove H3198 after the hearing H4926 of his ears: H241 But with righteousness H6664 shall he judge H8199 the poor, H1800 and reprove H3198 with equity H4334 for the meek H6035 of the earth: H776 and he shall smite H5221 the earth H776 with the rod H7626 of his mouth, H6310 and with the breath H7307 of his lips H8193 shall he slay H4191 the wicked. H7563 And righteousness H6664 shall be the girdle H232 of his loins, H4975 and faithfulness H530 the girdle H232 of his reins. H2504
And the king H4428 said H559 unto Zadok, H6659 Carry back H7725 the ark H727 of God H430 into the city: H5892 if I shall find H4672 favour H2580 in the eyes H5869 of the LORD, H3068 he will bring me again, H7725 and shew H7200 me both it, and his habitation: H5116 But if he thus say, H559 I have no delight H2654 in thee; behold, here am I, let him do H6213 to me as seemeth H5869 good H2896 unto him.

Commentary on 2 Chronicles 9 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 9
Solomon here continues to appear great both at home and abroad. We had this account of his grandeur, 1 Ki. 10. Nothing is here added; but his defection towards his latter end, which we have there (ch. 11), is here omitted, and the close of this chapter brings him to the grave with an unstained reputation. Perhaps none of the chapters in the Chronicles agree so much with a chapter in the Kings as this does with 1 Ki. 10 verse for verse, only that the first two verses there are put into one here, and verse 25 here is taken from 1 Ki. 4:26, and the last three verses here from 1 Ki. 11:41-43. Here is,
2Ch 9:1-12
This passage of story had been largely considered in the Kings; yet, because our Saviour has proposed it as an example to us in our enquiries after him (Mt. 12:42), we must not pass it over without observing briefly,
2Ch 9:13-31
We have here Solomon in his throne, and Solomon in his grave; for the throne would not secure him from the grave. Mors sceptra ligonibus aequat-Death wrenches from the hand the sceptre as well as the spade.
