18 And when they had called H7121 to the king, H4428 there came out H3318 to them Eliakim H471 the son H1121 of Hilkiah, H2518 which was over the household, H1004 and Shebna H7644 the scribe, H5608 and Joah H3098 the son H1121 of Asaph H623 the recorder. H2142
And he sent H7971 Eliakim, H471 which was over the household, H1004 and Shebna H7644 the scribe, H5608 and the elders H2205 of the priests, H3548 covered H3680 with sackcloth, H8242 to Isaiah H3470 the prophet H5030 the son H1121 of Amoz. H531
And Joab H3097 the son H1121 of Zeruiah H6870 was over the host; H6635 and Jehoshaphat H3092 the son H1121 of Ahilud H286 was recorder; H2142 And Zadok H6659 the son H1121 of Ahitub, H285 and Ahimelech H288 the son H1121 of Abiathar, H54 were the priests; H3548 and Seraiah H8304 was the scribe; H5608

Now in the eighteenth H8083 H6240 year H8141 of his reign, H4427 when he had purged H2891 the land, H776 and the house, H1004 he sent H7971 Shaphan H8227 the son H1121 of Azaliah, H683 and Maaseiah H4641 the governor H8269 of the city, H5892 and Joah H3098 the son H1121 of Joahaz H3099 the recorder, H2142 to repair H2388 the house H1004 of the LORD H3068 his God. H5553 Behold, the LORD H3068 will carry thee away H2904 with a mighty H1397 captivity, H2925 and will surely H5844 cover H5844 thee. He will surely H6801 violently turn H6801 and toss H6802 thee like a ball H1754 into a large H7342 H3027 country: H776 there shalt thou die, H4191 and there the chariots H4818 of thy glory H3519 shall be the shame H7036 of thy lord's H113 house. H1004 And I will drive H1920 thee from thy station, H4673 and from thy state H4612 shall he pull thee down. H2040 And it shall come to pass in that day, H3117 that I will call H7121 my servant H5650 Eliakim H471 the son H1121 of Hilkiah: H2518 And I will clothe H3847 him with thy robe, H3801 and strengthen H2388 him with thy girdle, H73 and I will commit H5414 thy government H4475 into his hand: H3027 and he shall be a father H1 to the inhabitants H3427 of Jerusalem, H3389 and to the house H1004 of Judah. H3063 And the key H4668 of the house H1004 of David H1732 will I lay H5414 upon his shoulder; H7926 so he shall open, H6605 and none shall shut; H5462 and he shall shut, H5462 and none shall open. H6605 And I will fasten H8628 him as a nail H3489 in a sure H539 place; H4725 and he shall be for a glorious H3519 throne H3678 to his father's H1 house. H1004 And they shall hang H8518 upon him all the glory H3519 of his father's H1 house, H1004 the offspring H6631 and the issue, H6849 all vessels H3627 of small H6996 quantity, from the vessels H3627 of cups, H101 even to all the vessels H3627 of flagons. Commentary on 2 Kings 18 Matthew Henry Commentary

Hezekiah is here upon the throne,
But how well it ended, and how much to the honour and comfort of our great reformer, we shall find in the next chapter.
2Ki 18:1-8

2Ki 18:9-16
The kingdom of Assyria had now grown considerable, though we never read of it till the last reign.
