18 And G1161 Paul G3972 after this tarried G4357 there yet G2089 a good G2425 while, G2250 and then took his leave G657 of the brethren, G80 and sailed thence G1602 into G1519 Syria, G4947 and G2532 with G4862 him G846 Priscilla G4252 and G2532 Aquila; G207 having shorn G2751 his head G2776 in G1722 Cenchrea: G2747 for G1063 he had G2192 a vow. G2171
And the Nazarite H5139 shall shave H1548 the head H7218 of his separation H5145 at the door H6607 of the tabernacle H168 of the congregation, H4150 and shall take H3947 the hair H8181 of the head H7218 of his separation, H5145 and put H5414 it in the fire H784 which is under the sacrifice H2077 of the peace offerings. H8002
Them G5128 take, G3880 and purify thyself G48 with G4862 them, G846 and G2532 be at charges G1159 with G1909 them, G846 that G2443 they may shave G3587 their heads: G2776 and G2532 all G3956 may know G1097 that those things, G3754 whereof G3739 they were informed G2727 concerning G4012 thee, G4675 are G2076 nothing; G3762 but G235 that thou thyself G846 also G2532 walkest orderly, G4748 and keepest G5442 the law. G3551
And G2532 found G2147 a certain G5100 Jew G2453 named G3686 Aquila, G207 born G1085 in Pontus, G4193 lately G4373 come G2064 from G575 Italy, G2482 with G2532 his G846 wife G1135 Priscilla; G4252 (because that G1223 Claudius G2804 had commanded G1299 all G3956 Jews G2453 to depart G5563 from G1537 Rome:) G4516 and came G4334 unto them. G846
Speak H1696 unto the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and say H559 unto them, When either man H376 or woman H802 shall separate H6381 themselves to vow H5087 a vow H5088 of a Nazarite, H5139 to separate H5144 themselves unto the LORD: H3068
All the days H3117 of the vow H5088 of his separation H5145 there shall no razor H8593 come H5674 upon his head: H7218 until the days H3117 be fulfilled, H4390 in the which he separateth H5144 himself unto the LORD, H3068 he shall be holy, H6918 and shall let the locks H6545 of the hair H8181 of his head H7218 grow. H1431 All the days H3117 that he separateth H5144 himself unto the LORD H3068 he shall come H935 at no dead H4191 body. H5315 He shall not make himself unclean H2930 for his father, H1 or for his mother, H517 for his brother, H251 or for his sister, H269 when they die: H4194 because the consecration H5145 of his God H430 is upon his head. H7218 All the days H3117 of his separation H5145 he is holy H6918 unto the LORD. H3068 And if any man H4191 die H4191 very H6621 suddenly H6597 by him, and he hath defiled H2930 the head H7218 of his consecration; H5145 then he shall shave H1548 his head H7218 in the day H3117 of his cleansing, H2893 on the seventh H7637 day H3117 shall he shave H1548 it.
And they wrote G1125 letters by G1223 them G5495 G846 after this manner; G3592 The apostles G652 and G2532 elders G4245 and G2532 brethren G80 send greeting G5463 unto the brethren G80 which G3588 are of G1537 the Gentiles G1484 in G2596 Antioch G490 and G2532 Syria G4947 and G2532 Cilicia: G2791
And G5037 he G3778 began G756 to speak boldly G3955 in G1722 the synagogue: G4864 whom G846 when G1161 Aquila G207 and G2532 Priscilla G4252 had heard, G191 they took G4355 him G846 unto them, and G2532 expounded G1620 unto him G846 the way G3598 of God G2316 more perfectly. G197

Commentary on Acts 18 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 18
In this chapter we have,
Act 18:1-6
We do not find that Paul was much persecuted at Athens, nor that he was driven thence by any ill usage, as he was from those places where the Jews had or could make any interest; but this reception at Athens being cold, and little prospect of doing good there, he departed from Athens, leaving the care of those there who believed with Dionysius; and thence he came to Corinth, where he was now instrumental in planting a church that became on many accounts considerable. Corinth was the chief city of Achaia, now a province of the empire, a rich and splendid city. Non cuivis homini contingit adire Corinthum-It is not permitted every man to see Corinth. The country thereabouts at this day is called the Morea. Now here we have,
Act 18:7-11
Here we are told,
Act 18:12-17
We have here an account of some disturbance given to Paul and his friends at Corinth, but no great harm done, nor much hindrance given to the work of Christ there.
Act 18:18-23
We have here Paul in motion, as we have had him at Corinth for some time at rest, but in both busy, very busy, in the service of Christ; if he sat still, if he went about, still it was to do good. Here is,
Act 18:24-28
The sacred history leaves Paul upon his travels, and goes here to meet Apollos at Ephesus, and to give us some account of him, which was necessary to our understanding some passages in Paul's epistles.
