30 By G1722 G4571 stretching forth G1614 thine G4675 hand G5495 to G1519 heal; G2392 and G2532 that signs G4592 and G2532 wonders G5059 may be done G1096 by G1223 the name G3686 of thy G4675 holy G40 child G3816 Jesus. G2424
But G1161 Peter G4074 put G1544 them all G3956 forth, G1854 and kneeled down, G5087 G1119 and prayed; G4336 and G2532 turning G1994 him to G4314 the body G4983 said, G2036 Tabitha, G5000 arise. G450 And G1161 she opened G455 her G846 eyes: G3788 and G2532 when she saw G1492 Peter, G4074 she sat up. G339 And G1161 he gave G1325 her G846 his hand, G5495 and lifted G450 her G846 up, G450 and G1161 when he had called G5455 the saints G40 and G2532 widows, G5503 presented G3936 her G846 alive. G2198 And G1161 it was G1096 known G1110 throughout G2596 all G3650 Joppa; G2445 and G2532 many G4183 believed G4100 in G1909 the Lord. G2962
And G2532 Peter G4074 said G2036 unto him, G846 Aeneas, G132 Jesus G2424 Christ G5547 maketh G2390 thee G4571 whole: G2390 arise, G450 and G2532 make G4766 thy G4572 bed. G4766 And G2532 he arose G450 immediately. G2112 And G2532 all G3956 that dwelt G2730 at Lydda G3069 and G2532 Saron G4565 saw G1492 him, G846 and G3748 turned G1994 to G1909 the Lord. G2962
Insomuch G5620 that they brought forth G1627 the sick G772 into G2596 the streets, G4113 and G2532 laid G5087 them on G1909 beds G2825 and G2532 couches, G2895 that G2443 at the least G2579 the shadow G4639 of Peter G4074 passing by G2064 might overshadow G1982 some G5100 of them. G846 G1161 There came G4905 also G2532 a multitude G4128 out of the cities G4172 round about G4038 unto G1519 Jerusalem, G2419 bringing G5342 sick G772 folks, and G2532 them which were vexed G3791 with G5259 unclean G169 spirits: G4151 and they G3748 were healed G2323 every one. G537
But the LORD H3068 is with me as a mighty H1368 terrible one: H6184 therefore my persecutors H7291 shall stumble, H3782 and they shall not prevail: H3201 they shall be greatly H3966 ashamed; H954 for they shall not prosper: H7919 their everlasting H5769 confusion H3639 shall never be forgotten. H7911 But, O LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 that triest H974 the righteous, H6662 and seest H7200 the reins H3629 and the heart, H3820 let me see H7200 thy vengeance H5360 on them: for unto thee have I opened H1540 my cause. H7379
And G1161 when his G846 disciples G3101 James G2385 and G2532 John G2491 saw G1492 this, they said, G2036 Lord, G2962 wilt thou G2309 that we command G2036 fire G4442 to come down G2597 from G575 heaven, G3772 and G2532 consume G355 them, G846 even G2532 as G5613 Elias G2243 did? G4160 But G1161 he turned, G4762 and rebuked G2008 them, G846 and G2532 said, G2036 Ye know G1492 not G3756 what manner G3634 of spirit G4151 ye G5210 are of. G2075 For G1063 the Son G5207 of man G444 is G2064 not G3756 come G2064 to destroy G622 men's G444 lives, G5590 but G235 to save G4982 them. And G2532 they went G4198 to G1519 another G2087 village. G2968
When G1161 they which were about G4012 him G846 saw G1492 what would follow, G2071 they said G2036 unto him, G846 Lord, G2962 G1487 shall we smite G3960 with G1722 the sword? G3162 And G2532 one G1520 G5100 of G1537 them G846 smote G3960 the servant G1401 of the high priest, G749 and G2532 cut off G851 his G846 right G1188 ear. G3775 And G1161 Jesus G2424 answered G611 and said, G2036 Suffer ye G1439 thus G5127 far. G2193 And G2532 he touched G680 his G846 ear, G5621 and healed G2390 him. G846

Commentary on Acts 4 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 4
In going over the last two chapters, where we met with so many good things that the apostles did, I wondered what was become of the scribes and Pharisees, and chief priests, that they did not appear to contradict and oppose them, as they had used to treat Christ himself; surely they were so confounded at first with the pouring out of the Spirit that they were for a time struck dumb! But I find we have not lost them; their forces rally again, and here we have an encounter between them and the apostles; for from the beginning the gospel met with opposition. Here,
Act 4:1-4
We have here the interests of the kingdom of heaven successfully carried on, and the powers of darkness appearing against them to put a stop to them. let Christ's servants be ever so resolute, Satan's agents will be spiteful; and therefore, let Satan's agents be ever so spiteful, Christ's servants ought to be resolute.
Act 4:5-14
We have here the trial of Peter and John before the judges of the ecclesiastical court, for preaching a sermon concerning Jesus Christ, and working a miracle in his name. This is charged upon them as a crime, which was the best service they could do to God or men.
Act 4:15-22
We have here the issue of the trial of Peter and John before the council. They came off now with flying colours, because they must be trained up to sufferings by degrees, and by less trials be prepared for greater. They now but run with the footmen; hereafter we shall have them contending with horses, Jer. 12:5.
Act 4:23-31
We hear no more at present of the chief priests, what they did when they had dismissed Peter and John, but are to attend those two witnesses. And here we have,
Act 4:32-37
We have a general idea given us in these verses, and it is a very beautiful one, of the spirit and state of this truly primitive church; it is conspectus saeculi-a view of that age of infancy and innocence.
