16 Son H1121 of man, H120 behold, I take away H3947 from thee the desire H4261 of thine eyes H5869 with a stroke: H4046 yet neither shalt thou mourn H5594 nor weep, H1058 neither shall thy tears H1832 run down. H935
And there went out H3318 fire H784 from the LORD, H3068 and devoured H398 them, and they died H4191 before H6440 the LORD. H3068 Then Moses H4872 said H559 unto Aaron, H175 This is it that the LORD H3068 spake, H1696 saying, H559 I will be sanctified H6942 in them that come nigh H7138 me, and before H6440 all the people H5971 I will be glorified. H3513 And Aaron H175 held his peace. H1826
Speak H559 unto the house H1004 of Israel, H3478 Thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 Behold, I will profane H2490 my sanctuary, H4720 the excellency H1347 of your strength, H5797 the desire H4261 of your eyes, H5869 and that which your soul H5315 pitieth; H4263 and your sons H1121 and your daughters H1323 whom ye have left H5800 shall fall H5307 by the sword. H2719 And ye shall do H6213 as I have done: H6213 ye shall not cover H5844 your lips, H8222 nor eat H398 the bread H3899 of men. H582 And your tires H6287 shall be upon your heads, H7218 and your shoes H5275 upon your feet: H7272 ye shall not mourn H5594 nor weep; H1058 but ye shall pine away H4743 for your iniquities, H5771 and mourn H5098 one H376 toward another. H251 Thus Ezekiel H3168 is unto you a sign: H4159 according to all that he hath done H6213 shall ye do: H6213 and when this cometh, H935 ye shall know H3045 that I am the Lord H136 GOD. H3069 Also, thou son H1121 of man, H120 shall it not be in the day H3117 when I take H3947 from them their strength, H4581 the joy H4885 of their glory, H8597 the desire H4261 of their eyes, H5869 and that whereupon they set H4853 their minds, H5315 their sons H1121 and their daughters, H1323

The occasion of them was the king of Babylon's laying siege to Jerusalem, and the design of them is to show that in the issue of that siege he should be not only master of the place, but destroyer of it.
Eze 24:1-14
We have here,
Eze 24:15-27
These verses conclude what we have been upon all along from the beginning of this book, to wit, Ezekiel's prophecies of the destruction of Jerusalem; for after this, though he prophesied much concerning other nations, he said no more concerning Jerusalem, till he heard of the destruction of it, almost three years after, ch. 33:21. He had assured them, in the former part of this chapter, that there was no hope at all of the preventing of the trouble; here he assures them that they should not have the ease of weeping for it.
