7 For thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 Behold, I will bring H935 upon Tyrus H6865 Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon, H894 a king H4428 of kings, H4428 from the north, H6828 with horses, H5483 and with chariots, H7393 and with horsemen, H6571 and companies, H6951 and much H7227 people. H5971
The shield H4043 of his mighty men H1368 is made red, H119 the valiant H2428 men H582 are in scarlet: H8529 the chariots H7393 shall be with flaming H784 torches H6393 in the day H3117 of his preparation, H3559 and the fir trees H1265 shall be terribly shaken. H7477 The chariots H7393 shall rage H1984 in the streets, H2351 they shall justle one against another H8264 in the broad ways: H7339 they shall seem H4758 like torches, H3940 they shall run H7323 like the lightnings. H1300
And they shall come H935 against thee with chariots, H2021 wagons, H7393 and wheels, H1534 and with an assembly H6951 of people, H5971 which shall set H7760 against thee buckler H6793 and shield H4043 and helmet H6959 round about: H5439 and I will set H5414 judgment H4941 before H6440 them, and they shall judge H8199 thee according to their judgments. H4941
Yea, though they have hired H8566 among the nations, H1471 now will I gather H6908 them, and they shall sorrow H2490 a little H4592 for the burden H4853 of the king H4428 of princes. H8269
The king H4430 answered H6032 unto Daniel, H1841 and said, H560 Of H4481 a truth H7187 it is, that H1768 your God H426 is a God H426 of gods, H426 and a Lord H4756 of kings, H4430 and a revealer H1541 of secrets, H7328 seeing thou couldest H3202 reveal H1541 this H1836 secret. H7328
And spake H1696 kindly H2896 unto him, and set H5414 his throne H3678 above H4605 the throne H3678 of the kings H4428 that were with him in Babylon, H894
For he saith, H559 Are not my princes H8269 altogether H3162 kings? H4428
Thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 I will also make the multitude H1995 of Egypt H4714 to cease H7673 by the hand H3027 of Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon. H894 He and his people H5971 with him, the terrible H6184 of the nations, H1471 shall be brought H935 to destroy H7843 the land: H776 and they shall draw H7324 their swords H2719 against Egypt, H4714 and fill H4390 the land H776 with the slain. H2491
The noise H6963 of a whip, H7752 and the noise H6963 of the rattling H7494 of the wheels, H212 and of the pransing H1725 horses, H5483 and of the jumping H7540 chariots. H4818 The horseman H6571 lifteth up H5927 both the bright H3851 sword H2719 and the glittering H1300 spear: H2595 and there is a multitude H7230 of slain, H2491 and a great H3514 number of carcases; H6297 and there is none end H7097 of their corpses; H1472 they stumble H3782 H3782 upon their corpses: H1472
For thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 The sword H2719 of the king H4428 of Babylon H894 shall come H935 upon thee. By the swords H2719 of the mighty H1368 will I cause thy multitude H1995 to fall, H5307 the terrible H6184 of the nations, H1471 all of them: and they shall spoil H7703 the pomp H1347 of Egypt, H4714 and all the multitude H1995 thereof shall be destroyed. H8045
Son H1121 of man, H120 Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon H894 caused H5647 his army H2428 to serve H5647 a great H1419 service H5656 against Tyrus: H6865 every head H7218 was made bald, H7139 and every shoulder H3802 was peeled: H4803 yet had he no wages, H7939 nor his army, H2428 for Tyrus, H6865 for the service H5656 that he had served H5647 against it: Therefore thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 Behold, I will give H5414 the land H776 of Egypt H4714 unto Nebuchadrezzar H5019 king H4428 of Babylon; H894 and he shall take H5375 her multitude, H1995 and take H7997 her spoil, H7998 and take H962 her prey; H957 and it shall be the wages H7939 for his army. H2428 I have given H5414 him the land H776 of Egypt H4714 for his labour H6468 wherewith he served H5647 against it, because they wrought H6213 for me, saith H5002 the Lord H136 GOD. H3069
Behold, therefore I will bring H935 strangers H2114 upon thee, the terrible H6184 of the nations: H1471 and they shall draw H7324 their swords H2719 against the beauty H3308 of thy wisdom, H2451 and they shall defile H2490 thy brightness. H3314
By reason of the abundance H8229 of his horses H5483 their dust H80 shall cover H3680 thee: thy walls H2346 shall shake H7493 at the noise H6963 of the horsemen, H6571 and of the wheels, H1534 and of the chariots, H7393 when he shall enter H935 into thy gates, H8179 as men enter H3996 into a city H5892 wherein is made a breach. H1234 With the hoofs H6541 of his horses H5483 shall he tread down H7429 all thy streets: H2351 he shall slay H2026 thy people H5971 by the sword, H2719 and thy strong H5797 garrisons H4676 shall go down H3381 to the ground. H776
Therefore thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 Behold, I am against thee, O Tyrus, H6865 and will cause many H7227 nations H1471 to come up H5927 against thee, as the sea H3220 causeth his waves H1530 to come up. H5927
That the kingdom H4467 might be base, H8217 that it might not lift itself up, H5375 but that by keeping H8104 of his covenant H1285 it might stand. H5975
And send H7971 them to the king H4428 of Edom, H123 and to the king H4428 of Moab, H4124 and to the king H4428 of the Ammonites, H1121 H5983 and to the king H4428 of Tyrus, H6865 and to the king H4428 of Zidon, H6721 by the hand H3027 of the messengers H4397 which come H935 to Jerusalem H3389 unto Zedekiah H6667 king H4428 of Judah; H3063 And command H6680 them to say H559 unto their masters, H113 Thus saith H559 the LORD H3068 of hosts, H6635 the God H430 of Israel; H3478 Thus shall ye say H559 unto your masters; H113 I have made H6213 the earth, H776 the man H120 and the beast H929 that are upon H6440 the ground, H776 by my great H1419 power H3581 and by my outstretched H5186 arm, H2220 and have given H5414 it unto whom it seemed H5869 meet H3474 unto me. And now have I given H5414 all these lands H776 into the hand H3027 of Nebuchadnezzar H5019 the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 my servant; H5650 and the beasts H2416 of the field H7704 have I given H5414 him also to serve H5647 him.
And all the kings H4428 of Tyrus, H6865 and all the kings H4428 of Zidon, H6721 and the kings H4428 of the isles H339 which are beyond H5676 the sea, H3220
Behold, I will send H7971 and take H3947 all the families H4940 of the north, H6828 saith H5002 the LORD, H3068 and Nebuchadrezzar H5019 the king H4428 of Babylon, H894 my servant, H5650 and will bring H935 them against this land, H776 and against the inhabitants H3427 thereof, and against all these nations H1471 round about, H5439 and will utterly destroy H2763 them, and make H7760 them an astonishment, H8047 and an hissing, H8322 and perpetual H5769 desolations. H2723
They shall lay hold H2388 on bow H7198 and spear; H3591 they are cruel, H394 and have no mercy; H7355 their voice H6963 roareth H1993 like the sea; H3220 and they ride H7392 upon horses, H5483 set in array H6186 as men H376 for war H4421 against thee, O daughter H1323 of Zion. H6726

Commentary on Ezekiel 26 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 26
The prophet had soon done with those four nations that he set his face against in the foregoing chapters; for they were not at that time very considerable in the world, nor would their fall make any great noise among the nations nor any figure in history. But the city of Tyre is next set to the bar; this, being a place of vast trade, was known all the world over; and therefore here are three whole chapters, this and the two that follow, spent in the prediction of the destruction of Tyre. We have "the burden of Tyre,' Isa. 23. It is but just mentioned in Jeremiah, as sharing with the natives in the common calamity, ch. 25:22; 27:3; 47:4. But Ezekiel is ordered to be copious upon that head. In this chapter we have,
Eze 26:1-14
This prophecy is dated in the eleventh year, which was the year that Jerusalem was taken, and in the first day of the month, but it is not said what month, some think the month in which Jerusalem was taken, which was the fourth month, others the month after; or perhaps it was the first month, and so it was the first day of the year. Observe here,
Eze 26:15-21
The utter ruin of Tyre is here represented in very strong and lively figures, which are exceedingly affecting.
