7 And the LORD H3068 God H430 formed H3335 man H120 of the dust H6083 of H4480 the ground, H127 and breathed H5301 into his nostrils H639 the breath H5397 of life; H2416 and man H120 became a living H2416 soul. H5315
And G2532 so G3779 it is written, G1125 The first G4413 man G444 Adam G76 was made G1096 G1519 a living G2198 soul; G5590 the last G2078 Adam G76 was made G1519 a quickening G2227 spirit. G4151
Then shall the dust H6083 return H7725 to the earth H776 as it was: and the spirit H7307 shall return H7725 unto God H430 who gave H5414 it.
For he knoweth H3045 our frame; H3336 he remembereth H2142 that we are dust. H6083
Neither G3761 is worshipped G2323 with G5259 men's G444 hands, G5495 as though he needed G4326 any thing, G5100 seeing he G846 giveth G1325 to all G3956 life, G2222 and G2532 breath, G4157 and G2596 all things; G3956
All the while H5750 my breath H5397 is in me, and the spirit H7307 of God H433 is in my nostrils; H639
Know H3045 ye that the LORD H3068 he is God: H430 it is he that hath made H6213 us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, H5971 and the sheep H6629 of his pasture. H4830
I will praise H3034 thee; for I am fearfully H3372 and wonderfully made: H6395 marvellous H6381 are thy works; H4639 and that my soul H5315 knoweth H3045 right well. H3966 My substance H6108 was not hid H3582 from thee, when I was made H6213 in secret, H5643 and curiously wrought H7551 in the lowest parts H8482 of the earth. H776
All go H1980 unto one H259 place; H4725 all are of the dust, H6083 and all turn H7725 to dust H6083 again. H7725 Who knoweth H3045 the spirit H7307 of man H1121 H120 that goeth H5927 upward, H4605 and the spirit H7307 of the beast H929 that goeth H3381 downward H4295 to the earth? H776
For G1063 we know G1492 that G3754 if G1437 our G2257 earthly G1919 house G3614 of this tabernacle G4636 were dissolved, G2647 we have G2192 a building G3619 of G1537 God, G2316 an house G3614 not made with hands, G886 eternal G166 in G1722 the heavens. G3772
Furthermore G1534 G3303 we have had G2192 fathers G3962 of our G2257 flesh G4561 which corrected G3810 us, and G2532 we gave them reverence: G1788 shall we G5293 not G3756 much G4183 rather G3123 be in subjection G5293 unto the Father G3962 of spirits, G4151 and G2532 live? G2198
But G1161 we have G2192 this G5126 treasure G2344 in G1722 earthen G3749 vessels, G4632 that G2443 the excellency G5236 of the power G1411 may be G5600 of God, G2316 and G2532 not G3361 of G1537 us. G2257
The spirit H5397 of man H120 is the candle H5216 of the LORD, H3068 searching H2664 all the inward parts H2315 of the belly. H990

Commentary on Genesis 2 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 2
This chapter is an appendix to the history of the creation, more particularly explaining and enlarging upon that part of the history which relates immediately to man, the favourite of this lower world. We have in it,
Gen 2:1-3
We have here,
Gen 2:4-7
In these verses,
Gen 2:8-15
Man consisting of body and soul, a body made out of the earth and a rational immortal soul the breath of heaven, we have, in these verses, the provision that was made for the happiness of both; he that made him took care to make him happy, if he could but have kept himself so and known when he was well off. That part of man by which he is allied to the world of sense was made happy; for he was put in the paradise of God: that part by which he is allied to the world of spirits was well provided for; for he was taken into covenant with God. Lord, what is man that he should be thus dignified-man that is a worm! Here we have,
Gen 2:16-17
Observe here,
Thus easy, thus happy, was man in a state of innocency, having all that heart could wish to make him so. How good was God to him! How many favours did he load him with! How easy were the laws he gave him! How kind the covenant he made with him! Yet man, being in honour, understood not his own interest, but soon became as the beasts that perish.
