31 And Joseph H3130 said H559 unto his brethren, H251 and unto his father's H1 house, H1004 I will go up, H5927 and shew H5046 Pharaoh, H6547 and say H559 unto him, My brethren, H251 and my father's H1 house, H1004 which were in the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 are come H935 unto me;
And the fame H6963 thereof was heard H8085 in Pharaoh's H6547 house, H1004 saying, H559 Joseph's H3130 brethren H251 are come: H935 and it pleased H3190 H5869 Pharaoh H6547 well, H3190 H5869 and H5869 his servants. H5650 And Pharaoh H6547 said H559 unto Joseph, H3130 Say H559 unto thy brethren, H251 This do H6213 ye; lade H2943 your beasts, H1165 and go, H3212 get H935 you unto the land H776 of Canaan; H3667 And take H3947 your father H1 and your households, H1004 and come H935 unto me: and I will give H5414 you the good H2898 of the land H776 of Egypt, H4714 and ye shall eat H398 the fat H2459 of the land. H776 Now thou art commanded, H6680 this do H6213 ye; take H3947 you wagons H5699 out of the land H776 of Egypt H4714 for your little ones, H2945 and for your wives, H802 and bring H5375 your father, H1 and come. H935 Also H5869 regard H2347 not your stuff; H3627 for the good H2898 of all the land H776 of Egypt H4714 is yours.
Then Joseph H3130 came H935 and told H5046 Pharaoh, H6547 and said, H559 My father H1 and my brethren, H251 and their flocks, H6629 and their herds, H1241 and all that they have, are come out H935 of the land H776 of Canaan; H3667 and, behold, they are in the land H776 of Goshen. H1657 And he took H3947 some H7097 of his brethren, H251 even five H2568 men, H582 and presented H3322 them unto H6440 Pharaoh. H6547 And Pharaoh H6547 said H559 unto his brethren, H251 What is your occupation? H4639 And they said H559 unto Pharaoh, H6547 Thy servants H5650 are shepherds, H7462 H6629 both we, and also our fathers. H1

Commentary on Genesis 46 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 46
Jacob is here removing to Egypt in his old age, forced thither by a famine, and invited thither by a son. Here,
Gen 46:1-4
The divine precept is, In all thy ways acknowledge God; and the promise annexed to it is, He shall direct thy paths. Jacob has here a very great concern before him, not only a journey, but a removal, to settle in another country, a change which was very surprising to him (for he never had any other thoughts than to live and die in Canaan), and which would be of great consequence to his family for a long time to come. Now here we are told,
Gen 46:5-27
Old Jacob is here flitting. Little did he think of ever leaving Canaan; he expected, no doubt, to die in his nest, and to leave his seed in actual possession of the promised land: but Providence orders it otherwise. Note, Those that think themselves well settled may yet be unsettled in a little time. Even old people, who think of no other removal than that to the grave (which Jacob had much upon his heart, ch. 37:35; 42:38), sometimes live to see great changes in their family. It is good to be ready, not only for the grave, but for whatever may happen betwixt us and the grave. Observe,
Gen 46:28-34
