31 And the strong H2634 shall be as tow, H5296 and the maker H6467 of it as a spark, H5213 and they shall both H8147 burn H1197 together, H3162 and none shall quench H3518 them.
And say H559 to the forest H3293 of the south, H5045 Hear H8085 the word H1697 of the LORD; H3068 Thus saith H559 the Lord H136 GOD; H3069 Behold, I will kindle H3341 a fire H784 in thee, and it shall devour H398 every green H3892 tree H6086 in thee, and every dry H3002 tree: H6086 the flaming H3852 flame H7957 shall not be quenched, H3518 and all faces H6440 from the south H5045 to the north H6828 shall be burned H6866 therein. And all flesh H1320 shall see H7200 that I the LORD H3068 have kindled H1197 it: it shall not be quenched. H3518
The same G846 G2532 shall drink G4095 of G1537 the wine G3631 of the wrath G2372 of God, G2316 which G3588 is poured out G2767 without mixture G194 into G1722 the cup G4221 of his G846 indignation; G3709 and G2532 he shall be tormented G928 with G1722 fire G4442 and G2532 brimstone G2303 in the presence G1799 of the holy G40 angels, G32 and G2532 in the presence G1799 of the Lamb: G721 And G2532 the smoke G2586 of their G846 torment G929 ascendeth up G305 for G1519 ever G165 and ever: G165 and G2532 they have G2192 no G3756 rest G372 day G2250 nor G2532 night, G3571 who G3588 worship G4352 the beast G2342 and G2532 his G846 image, G1504 and G2532 whosoever G1536 receiveth G2983 the mark G5480 of his G846 name. G3686
And G2532 the heaven G3772 departed G673 as G5613 a scroll G975 when it is rolled together; G1507 and G2532 every G3956 mountain G3735 and G2532 island G3520 were moved G2795 out of G1537 their G846 places. G5117 And G2532 the kings G935 of the earth, G1093 and G2532 the great men, G3175 and G2532 the rich men, G4145 and G2532 the chief captains, G5506 and G2532 the mighty men, G1415 and G2532 every G3956 bondman, G1401 and G2532 every G3956 free man, G1658 hid G2928 themselves G1438 in G1519 the dens G4693 and G2532 in G1519 the rocks G4073 of the mountains; G3735 And G2532 said G3004 to the mountains G3735 and G2532 rocks, G4073 Fall G4098 on G1909 us, G2248 and G2532 hide G2928 us G2248 from G575 the face G4383 of him that sitteth G2521 on G1909 the throne, G2362 and G2532 from G575 the wrath G3709 of the Lamb: G721 For G3754 the great G3173 day G2250 of his G846 wrath G3709 is come; G2064 and G2532 who G5101 shall be able G1410 to stand? G2476
And G2532 if G1437 thy G4675 hand G5495 offend G4624 thee, G4571 cut G609 it G846 off: G609 it is G2076 better G2570 for thee G4671 to enter G1525 into G1519 life G2222 maimed, G2948 than G2228 having G2192 two G1417 hands G5495 to go G565 into G1519 hell, G1067 into G1519 the fire G4442 that never shall be quenched: G762 Where G3699 their G846 worm G4663 dieth G5053 not, G3756 and G2532 the fire G4442 is G4570 not G3756 quenched. G4570 And G2532 if G1437 thy G4675 foot G4228 offend G4624 thee, G4571 cut G609 it G846 off: G609 it is G2076 better G2570 for thee G4671 to enter G1525 halt G5560 into G1519 life, G2222 than G2228 having G2192 two G1417 feet G4228 to be cast G906 into G1519 hell, G1067 into G1519 the fire G4442 that never shall be quenched: G762 Where G3699 their G846 worm G4663 dieth G5053 not, G3756 and G2532 the fire G4442 is G4570 not G3756 quenched. G4570 And G2532 if G1437 thine G4675 eye G3788 offend G4624 thee, G4571 pluck G1544 it G846 out: G1544 it is G2076 better G2570 for thee G4671 to enter G1525 into G1519 the kingdom G932 of God G2316 with one eye, G3442 than G2228 having G2192 two G1417 eyes G3788 to be cast G906 into G1519 hell G1067 fire: G4442 Where G3699 their G846 worm G4663 dieth G5053 not, G3756 and G2532 the fire G4442 is G4570 not G3756 quenched. Commentary on Isaiah 1 Matthew Henry Commentary
An Exposition, With Practical Observations, of
The Book of the Prophet Isaiah
Chapter 1
The first verse of this chapter is intended for a title to the whole book, and it is probable that this was the first sermon that this prophet was appointed to publish and to affix in writing (as Calvin thinks the custom of the prophets was) to the door of the temple, as with us proclamations are fixed to public places, that all might read them (Hab. 2:2), and those that would might take out authentic copies of them, the original being, after some time, laid up by the priests among the records of the temple. Isa 1:1
Here is,
Isa 1:2-9
We will hope to meet with a brighter and more pleasant scene before we come to the end of this book; but truly here, in the beginning of it, every thing looks very bad, very black, with Judah and Jerusalem. Isa 1:10-15
Here,
Isa 1:16-20

"And now life and death, good and evil, are thus set before you. Come, and let us reason together. What have you to object against the equity of this, or against complying with God's terms?'
Isa 1:21-31
Here,
Now all this is applicable,
