10 Sing H7891 unto the LORD H3068 a new H2319 song, H7892 and his praise H8416 from the end H7097 of the earth, H776 ye that go down H3381 to the sea, H3220 and all that is therein; H4393 the isles, H339 and the inhabitants H3427 thereof.
And G1161 that the Gentiles G1484 might glorify G1392 God G2316 for G5228 his mercy; G1656 as G2531 it is written, G1125 For G1223 this G5124 cause G1223 I will confess G1843 to thee G4671 among G1722 the Gentiles, G1484 and G2532 sing G5567 unto thy G4675 name. G3686 And G2532 again G3825 he saith, G3004 Rejoice, ye G2165 Gentiles, G1484 with G3326 his G846 people. G2992 And G2532 again, G3825 Praise G134 the Lord, G2962 all G3956 ye G134 Gentiles; G1484 and G2532 laud G1867 him, G846 all ye G3956 people. G2992
They shall lift up H5375 their voice, H6963 they shall sing H7442 for the majesty H1347 of the LORD, H3068 they shall cry aloud H6670 from the sea. H3220 Wherefore glorify H3513 ye the LORD H3068 in the fires, H217 even the name H8034 of the LORD H3068 God H430 of Israel H3478 in the isles H339 of the sea. H3220 From the uttermost part H3671 of the earth H776 have we heard H8085 songs, H2158 even glory H6643 to the righteous. H6662 But I said, H559 My leanness, H7334 my leanness, H7334 woe H188 unto me! the treacherous dealers H898 have dealt treacherously; H898 yea, the treacherous dealers H898 have dealt very H899 treacherously. H898
Praise H1984 ye the LORD. H3050 Praise H1984 ye the LORD H3068 from the heavens: H8064 praise H1984 him in the heights. H4791 Praise H1984 ye him, all his angels: H4397 praise H1984 ye him, all his hosts. H6635 Praise H1984 ye him, sun H8121 and moon: H3394 praise H1984 him, all ye stars H3556 of light. H216 Praise H1984 him, ye heavens H8064 of heavens, H8064 and ye waters H4325 that be above the heavens. H8064 Let them praise H1984 the name H8034 of the LORD: H3068 for he commanded, H6680 and they were created. H1254 He hath also stablished H5975 them for ever H5703 and ever: H5769 he hath made H5414 a decree H2706 which shall not pass. H5674 Praise H1984 the LORD H3068 from the earth, H776 ye dragons, H8577 and all deeps: H8415 Fire, H784 and hail; H1259 snow, H7950 and vapour; H7008 stormy H5591 wind H7307 fulfilling H6213 his word: H1697 Mountains, H2022 and all hills; H1389 fruitful H6529 trees, H6086 and all cedars: H730 Beasts, H2416 and all cattle; H929 creeping things, H7431 and flying H3671 fowl: H6833 Kings H4428 of the earth, H776 and all people; H3816 princes, H8269 and all judges H8199 of the earth: H776 Both young men, H970 and maidens; H1330 old men, H2205 and children: H5288 Let them praise H1984 the name H8034 of the LORD: H3068 for his name H8034 alone is excellent; H7682 his glory H1935 is above the earth H776 and heaven. H8064 He also exalteth H7311 the horn H7161 of his people, H5971 the praise H8416 of all his saints; H2623 even of the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 a people H5971 near H7138 unto him. Praise H1984 ye the LORD. H3050
O praise H1984 the LORD, H3068 all ye nations: H1471 praise H7623 him, all ye people. H523 For his merciful H2617 kindness H2617 is great H1396 toward us: and the truth H571 of the LORD H3068 endureth for ever. H5769 Praise H1984 ye the LORD. H3050
They that go down H3381 to the sea H3220 in ships, H591 that do H6213 business H4399 in great H7227 waters; H4325 These see H7200 the works H4639 of the LORD, H3068 and his wonders H6381 in the deep. H4688 For he commandeth, H559 and raiseth H5975 the stormy H5591 wind, H7307 which lifteth up H7311 the waves H1530 thereof. They mount up H5927 to the heaven, H8064 they go down H3381 again to the depths: H8415 their soul H5315 is melted H4127 because of trouble. H7451 They reel to and fro, H2287 and stagger H5128 like a drunken man, H7910 and are at their wits' H2451 end. H1104 Then they cry H6817 unto the LORD H3068 in their trouble, H6862 and he bringeth them out H3318 of their distresses. H4691 He maketh H6965 the storm H5591 a calm, H1827 so that the waves H1530 thereof are still. H2814 Then are they glad H8055 because they be quiet; H8367 so he bringeth H5148 them unto their desired H2656 haven. H4231 Oh that men would praise H3034 the LORD H3068 for his goodness, H2617 and for his wonderful works H6381 to the children H1121 of men! H120 Let them exalt H7311 him also in the congregation H6951 of the people, H5971 and praise H1984 him in the assembly H4186 of the elders. H2205
[[A Psalm.]] H4210 O sing H7891 unto the LORD H3068 a new H2319 song; H7892 for he hath done H6213 marvellous things: H6381 his right hand, H3225 and his holy H6944 arm, H2220 hath gotten him the victory. H3467 The LORD H3068 hath made known H3045 his salvation: H3444 his righteousness H6666 hath he openly shewed H1540 in the sight H5869 of the heathen. H1471 He hath remembered H2142 his mercy H2617 and his truth H530 toward the house H1004 of Israel: H3478 all the ends H657 of the earth H776 have seen H7200 the salvation H3444 of our God. H430 Make a joyful noise H7321 unto the LORD, H3068 all the earth: H776 make a loud noise, H6476 and rejoice, H7442 and sing H2167 praise.
O sing H7891 unto the LORD H3068 a new H2319 song: H7892 sing H7891 unto the LORD, H3068 all the earth. H776 Sing H7891 unto the LORD, H3068 bless H1288 his name; H8034 shew forth H1319 his salvation H3444 from day H3117 to day. H3117 Declare H5608 his glory H3519 among the heathen, H1471 his wonders H6381 among all people. H5971

Commentary on Isaiah 42 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 42
The prophet seems here to launch out yet further into the prophecy of the Messiah and his kingdom under the type of Cyrus; and, having the great work of man's salvation by him yet more in view, he almost forgets the occasion that led him into it and drops the return out of Babylon; for indeed the prospect of this would be a greater comfort and support to the believing pious Jews, in their captivity, than the hope of that. And (as Mr. Gataker well observes) in this and similar prophecies of Christ, that are couched in types, as of David and Solomon, some passages agree to the type and not to the truth, other to the truth and not to the type, and many to the type in one sense and the truth in another. Here is,
Isa 42:1-4
We are sure that these verses are to be understood of Christ, for the evangelist tells us expressly that in him this prophecy was fulfilled, Mt. 12:17-21. Behold with an eye of faith, behold and observe, behold and admire, my servant, whom I uphold. Let the Old-Testament saints behold and remember him. Now what must we behold and consider concerning him?
Isa 42:5-12
Here is
Isa 42:13-17
It comes all to one whether we make these verses (as some do) the song itself that is to be sung by the Gentile world or a prophecy of what God will do to make way for the singing of that song, that evangelical new song.
Isa 42:18-25
The prophet, having spoken by way of comfort and encouragement to the believing Jews who waited for the consolation of Israel, here turns to those among them who were unbelieving, for their conviction and humiliation. Among those who were in captivity in Babylon there were some who were as the evil figs in Jeremiah's vision, who were sent thither for their hurt, to be removed into all the kingdoms of the earth, for a reproach and a proverb, Jer. 24:9. In them there was a type of the Jews who rejected Christ and were rejected by him, and then fell more than ever under the curse, when those who believed were inheriting the blessing; for they were broken, and ruined, and remain dispersed unto this day. Observe,
