1 Arise, H6965 shine; H215 for thy light H216 is come, H935 and the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 is risen H2224 upon thee.
Wherefore G1352 he saith, G3004 Awake thou G1453 that sleepest, G2518 and G2532 arise G450 from G1537 the dead, G3498 and G2532 Christ G5547 shall give G2017 thee G4671 light. G2017
For G1063 ye were G2258 sometimes G4218 darkness, G4655 but G1161 now G3568 are ye light G5457 in G1722 the Lord: G2962 walk G4043 as G5613 children G5043 of light: G5457
Awake, H5782 awake; H5782 put on H3847 thy strength, H5797 O Zion; H6726 put on H3847 thy beautiful H8597 garments, H899 O Jerusalem, H3389 the holy H6944 city: H5892 for henceforth there shall no more H3254 come H935 into thee the uncircumcised H6189 and the unclean. H2931 Shake H5287 thyself from the dust; H6083 arise, H6965 and sit down, H3427 O Jerusalem: H3389 loose H6605 thyself from the bands H4147 of thy neck, H6677 O captive H7628 daughter H1323 of Zion. H6726
Then shall thy light H216 break forth H1234 as the morning, H7837 and thine health H724 shall spring forth H6779 speedily: H4120 and thy righteousness H6664 shall go H1980 before H6440 thee; the glory H3519 of the LORD H3068 shall be thy rereward. H622
The sun H8121 shall be no more thy light H216 by day; H3119 neither for brightness H5051 shall the moon H3394 give light H216 unto thee: but the LORD H3068 shall be unto thee an everlasting H5769 light, H215 and thy God H430 thy glory. H8597 Thy sun H8121 shall no more go down; H935 neither shall thy moon H3391 withdraw H622 itself: for the LORD H3068 shall be thine everlasting H5769 light, H216 and the days H3117 of thy mourning H60 shall be ended. H7999
Then G3767 spake G2980 Jesus G2424 again G3825 unto them, G846 saying, G3004 I G1473 am G1510 the light G5457 of the world: G2889 he that followeth G190 me G1698 shall G4043 not G3364 walk G4043 in G1722 darkness, G4653 but G235 shall have G2192 the light G5457 of life. G2222
And G2532 there shall be G2071 no G3756 night G3571 there; G1563 and G2532 they need G5532 no G3756 candle, G3088 G2192 neither G2532 light G5457 of the sun; G2246 for G3754 the Lord G2962 God G2316 giveth G5461 them G846 light: G5461 and G2532 they shall reign G936 for G1519 ever G165 and ever. G165
Let your G5216 light G5457 so G3779 shine G2989 before G1715 men, G444 that G3704 they may see G1492 your G5216 good G2570 works, G2041 and G2532 glorify G1392 your G5216 Father G3962 which G3588 is in G1722 heaven. G3772
Through G1223 the tender G4698 mercy G1656 of our G2257 God; G2316 whereby G1722 G3739 the dayspring G395 from G1537 on high G5311 hath visited G1980 us, G2248 To give light G2014 to them that sit G2521 in G1722 darkness G4655 and G2532 in the shadow G4639 of death, G2288 to guide G2720 our G2257 feet G4228 into G1519 the way G3598 of peace. G1515
That was G2258 the true G228 Light, G5457 which G3739 lighteth G5461 every man G3956 G444 that cometh G2064 into G1519 the world. G2889
If G1487 ye be reproached G3679 for G1722 the name G3686 of Christ, G5547 happy G3107 are ye; for G3754 the spirit G4151 of glory G1391 and G2532 of God G2316 resteth G373 upon G1909 you: G5209 on G2596 G3303 their part G846 he is evil spoken of, G987 but G1161 on G2596 your part G5209 he is glorified. G1392
And G2532 the city G4172 had G2192 no G3756 need G5532 of the sun, G2246 neither G3761 of the moon, G4582 to G2443 shine G5316 in G1722 it: G846 for G1063 the glory G1391 of God G2316 did lighten G5461 it, G846 and G2532 the Lamb G721 is the light G3088 thereof. G846
That G2443 ye may be G1096 blameless G273 and G2532 harmless, G185 the sons G5043 of God, G2316 without rebuke, G298 in G1722 the midst G3319 of a crooked G4646 and G2532 perverse G1294 nation, G1074 among G1722 whom G3739 ye shine G5316 as G5613 lights G5458 in G1722 the world; G2889

Commentary on Isaiah 60 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 60
This whole chapter is all to the same purport, all in the same strain; it is a part of God's covenant with his church, which is spoken of in the last verse of the foregoing chapter, and the blessings here promised are the fruits of the word and Spirit there promised. The long continuance of the church, even unto the utmost ages of time, was there promised, and here the large extent of the church, even unto the utmost regions of the earth; and both these tend to the honour of the Redeemer. It is here promised,
Now this has some reference to the peaceable and prosperous condition which the Jews were sometimes in after their return out of captivity into their own land; but it certainly looks further, and was to have its full accomplishment in the kingdom of the Messiah, the enlargement of that kingdom by the bringing in of the Gentiles into it, and the spiritual blessings in heavenly things by Christ Jesus with which it should be enriched, and all these earnests of eternal joy and glory.
Isa 60:1-8
It is here promised that the gospel temple shall be very lightsome and very large.
Isa 60:9-14
The promises made to the church in the foregoing verses are here repeated, ratified, and enlarged upon, designed still for the comfort and encouragement of the Jews after their return out of captivity, but certainly looking further, to the enlargement and advancement of the gospel church and the abundance of spiritual blessings with which it shall be enriched.
Isa 60:15-22
The happy and glorious state of the church is here further foretold, referring principally and ultimately to the Christian church and the spiritual peace of that, but under the type of that little gleam of outward peace which the Jews sometimes enjoyed after their return out of captivity. This is here spoken of,
