29 And this shall be a sign H226 unto you, saith H5002 the LORD, H3068 that I will punish H6485 you in this place, H4725 that ye may know H3045 that my words H1697 shall surely H6965 stand H6965 against you for evil: H7451
When G3752 ye therefore G3767 shall see G1492 the abomination G946 of desolation, G2050 spoken of G4483 by G1223 Daniel G1158 the prophet, G4396 stand G2476 G2476 in G1722 the holy G40 place, G5117 (whoso readeth, G314 let him understand:) G3539 Then G5119 let them which be in G1722 Judaea G2449 flee G5343 into G1909 the mountains: G3735
Now G1161 learn G3129 a parable G3850 of G575 the fig tree; G4808 When G3752 his G846 branch G2798 is G1096 yet G2235 tender, G527 and G2532 putteth forth G1631 leaves, G5444 ye know G1097 that G3754 summer G2330 is nigh: G1451 So G3779 likewise G2532 ye, G5210 when G3752 ye shall see G1492 all G3956 these things, G5023 know G1097 that G3754 it is G2076 near, G1451 even at G1909 the doors. G2374 Verily G281 I say G3004 unto you, G5213 This G3778 generation G1074 shall not G3364 pass, G3928 till G302 G2193 all G3956 these things G5023 be fulfilled. G1096
But G1161 when G3752 ye shall see G1492 the abomination G946 of desolation, G2050 spoken G4483 of by G5259 Daniel G1158 the prophet, G4396 standing G2476 G2476 where G3699 it ought G1163 not, G3756 (let him that readeth G314 understand,) G3539 then G5119 let them G5343 that be in G1722 Judaea G2449 flee G5343 to G1519 the mountains: G3735 And G1161 let him G2597 that is on G1909 the housetop G1430 not G3361 go down G2597 into G1519 the house, G3614 neither G3366 enter G1525 therein, to take G142 any thing G5100 out of G1537 his G846 house: G3614 And G2532 let G1994 him that is G5607 in G1519 the field G68 not G3361 turn G1994 G1519 back G3694 again G1994 for to take up G142 his G846 garment. G2440
And G1161 when G3752 ye shall see G1492 Jerusalem G2419 compassed G2944 with G5259 armies, G4760 then G5119 know G1097 that G3754 the desolation G2050 thereof G846 is nigh. G1448 Then G5119 let them G5343 which are in G1722 Judaea G2449 flee G5343 to G1519 the mountains; G3735 and G2532 let them G1633 which are in G1722 the midst G3319 of it G846 depart out; G1633 and G2532 let G1525 not G3361 them that are in G1722 the countries G5561 enter G1525 thereinto. G1519 G846
And G2532 he spake G2036 to them G846 a parable; G3850 Behold G1492 the fig tree, G4808 and G2532 all G3956 the trees; G1186 When G3752 they now G2235 shoot forth, G4261 ye see G991 and know G1097 of G575 your own selves G1438 that G3754 summer G2330 is G2076 now G2235 nigh at hand. G1451 So G3779 likewise G2532 ye, G5210 when G3752 ye see G1492 these things G5023 come to pass, G1096 know ye G1097 that G3754 the kingdom G932 of God G2316 is G2076 nigh at hand. G1451 Verily G281 I say G3004 unto you, G5213 G3754 This G3778 generation G1074 shall G3928 not G3364 pass away, G3928 G302 till G2193 all G3956 be fulfilled. G1096 Heaven G3772 and G2532 earth G1093 shall pass away: G3928 but G1161 my G3450 words G3056 shall G3928 not G3364 pass away. G3928

Commentary on Jeremiah 44 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 44
In this chapter we have,
Jer 44:1-14
The Jews in Egypt were now dispersed into various parts of the country, into Migdol, and Noph, and other places, and Jeremiah was sent on an errand from God to them, which he delivered either when he had the most of them together in Pathros (v. 15) or going about from place to place preaching to this purport. He delivered this message in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, and in it,
Jer 44:15-19
We have here the people's obstinate refusal to submit to the power of the word of God in the mouth of Jeremiah. We have scarcely such an instance of downright daring contradiction to God himself as this, or such an avowed rebellion of the carnal mind. Observe,
Jer 44:20-30
Daring sinners may speak many a bold word and many a big word, but, after all, God will have the last word; for he will be justified when he speaks, and all flesh, even the proudest, shall be silent before him. Prophets may be run down, but God cannot; nay, here the prophet would not.
The sacred history records not the accomplishment of this prophecy, but its silence is sufficient; we hear no more of these Jews in Egypt, and therefore conclude them, according to this prediction, lost there; for no word of God shall fall to the ground.
