7 Will ye speak H1696 wickedly H5766 for God? H410 and talk H1696 deceitfully H7423 for him?
For truly H551 my words H4405 shall not be false: H8267 he that is perfect H8549 in knowledge H1844 is with thee.
Remember, H2142 I pray thee, who ever perished, H6 being innocent? H5355 or where H375 were the righteous H3477 cut off? H3582
Should not the multitude H7230 of words H1697 be answered? H6030 and should a man H376 full of talk H8193 be justified? H6663 Should thy lies H907 make H2790 men H4962 hold their peace? H2790 and when thou mockest, H3932 shall no man make thee ashamed? H3637 For thou hast said, H559 My doctrine H3948 is pure, H2134 and I am clean H1249 in thine eyes. H5869
He that speaketh H5046 flattery H2506 to his friends, H7453 even the eyes H5869 of his children H1121 shall fail. H3615
They shall put G4160 you G5209 out of the synagogues: G656 yea, G235 the time G5610 cometh, G2064 that G2443 whosoever G3956 killeth G615 you G5209 will think G1380 that he doeth G4374 God G2316 service. G2999
But G1161 if G1487 our G2257 unrighteousness G93 commend G4921 the righteousness G1343 of God, G2316 what G5101 shall we say? G2046 G3361 Is God G2316 unrighteous G94 who taketh G2018 vengeance? G3709 (I speak G3004 as G2596 a man) G444 God forbid: G3361 G1096 for then G1893 how G4459 shall G2919 God G2316 judge G2919 the world? G2889 For G1063 if G1487 the truth G225 of God G2316 hath more abounded G4052 through G1722 my G1699 lie G5582 unto G1519 his G846 glory; G1391 why G5101 yet G2089 am G2919 I also G2504 judged G2919 as G5613 a sinner? G268 And G2532 not G3361 rather, (as G2531 we be slanderously reported, G987 and G2532 as G2531 some G5100 affirm G5346 that we G2248 say,) G3004 G3754 Let us do G4160 evil, G2556 that G2443 good G18 may come? G2064 whose G3739 damnation G2917 is G2076 just. G1738
But G235 have renounced G550 the hidden things G2927 of dishonesty, G152 not G3361 walking G4043 in G1722 craftiness, G3834 nor G3366 handling G1389 the word G3056 of God G2316 deceitfully; G1389 but G235 by manifestation G5321 of the truth G225 commending G4921 ourselves G1438 to G4314 every G3956 man's G444 conscience G4893 in the sight G1799 of God. Commentary on Job 13 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 13
Job here comes to make application of what he had said in the foregoing chapter; and now we have him not in so good a temper as he was in then: for,
Job 13:1-12
Job here warmly expresses his resentment of the unkindness of his friends.
Job 13:13-22
Job here takes fresh hold, fast hold, of his integrity, as one that was resolved not to let it go, nor suffer it to be wrested from him. His firmness in this matter is commendable and his warmth excusable.
Job 13:23-28
Here,
