16 He saith G3004 to him G846 again G3825 the second time, G1208 Simon, G4613 son of Jonas, G2495 lovest thou G25 me? G3165 He saith G3004 unto him, G846 Yea, G3483 Lord; G2962 thou G4771 knowest G1492 that G3754 I love G5368 thee. G4571 He saith G3004 unto him, G846 Feed G4165 my G3450 sheep. G4263
Take heed G4337 therefore G3767 unto yourselves, G1438 and G2532 to all G3956 the flock, G4168 over G1722 the which G3739 the Holy G40 Ghost G4151 hath made G5087 you G5209 overseers, G1985 to feed G4165 the church G1577 of God, G2316 which G3739 he hath purchased G4046 with G1223 his own G2398 blood. G129
For G3754 the Lamb G721 which G3588 is in the midst G303 G3319 of the throne G2362 shall feed G4165 them, G846 and G2532 shall lead G3594 them G846 unto G1909 living G2198 fountains G4077 of waters: G5204 and G2532 God G2316 shall wipe away G1813 all G3956 tears G1144 from G575 their G846 eyes. G3788
And G1161 Simon G4613 Peter G4074 stood G2258 G2476 and G2532 warmed himself. G2328 They said G2036 therefore G3767 unto him, G846 Art G1488 not G3361 thou G4771 also G2532 one of G1537 his G846 disciples? G3101 He G1565 denied G720 it, and G2532 said, G2036 I am G1510 not. G3756
Then G3767 saith G3004 the damsel G3814 that kept the door G2377 unto Peter, G4074 Art G1488 not G3361 thou G4771 also G2532 one of G1537 this G5127 man's G444 disciples? G3101 He G1565 saith, G3004 I am G1510 not. G3756
I G1473 am G1510 the good G2570 shepherd: G4166 the good G2570 shepherd G4166 giveth G5087 his G846 life G5590 for G5228 the sheep. G4263 But G1161 he that is G5607 an hireling, G3411 and G2532 not G3756 the shepherd, G4166 whose G3739 own G2398 the sheep G4263 are G1526 not, G3756 seeth G2334 the wolf G3074 coming, G2064 and G2532 leaveth G863 the sheep, G4263 and G2532 fleeth: G5343 and G2532 the wolf G3074 catcheth G726 them, G846 and G2532 scattereth G4650 the sheep. G4263 G1161 The hireling G3411 fleeth, G5343 because G3754 he is G2076 an hireling, G3411 and G2532 careth G3199 not G3756 for G4012 the sheep. G4263 I G1473 am G1510 the good G2570 shepherd, G4166 and G2532 know G1097 my G1699 sheep, and G2532 am known G1097 of G5259 mine. G1699 As G2531 the Father G3962 knoweth G1097 me, G3165 even so G2504 know G1097 I G2504 the Father: G3962 and G2532 I lay down G5087 my G3450 life G5590 for G5228 the sheep. G4263 And G2532 other G243 sheep G4263 I have, G2192 which G3739 are G2076 not G3756 of G1537 this G5026 fold: G833 them also G2548 I G3165 must G1163 bring, G71 and G2532 they shall hear G191 my G3450 voice; G5456 and G2532 there shall be G1096 one G3391 fold, G4167 and one G1520 shepherd. G4166
And G1161 he spake G2036 this G5026 parable G3850 unto G4314 them, G846 saying, G3004 What G5101 man G444 of G1537 you, G5216 having G2192 an hundred G1540 sheep, G4263 if G2532 he lose G622 one G1520 of G1537 them, G846 doth G2641 not G3756 leave G2641 the ninety and nine G1768 in G1722 the wilderness, G2048 and G2532 go G4198 after G1909 that which is lost, G622 until G2193 he find G2147 it? G846 And G2532 when he hath found G2147 it, he layeth G2007 it on G1909 his G1438 shoulders, G5606 rejoicing. G5463 And G2532 when he cometh G2064 G1519 home, G3624 he calleth together G4779 his friends G5384 and G2532 neighbours, G1069 saying G3004 unto them, G846 Rejoice G4796 with me; G3427 for G3754 I have found G2147 my G3450 sheep G4263 which G3588 was lost. G622 I say G3004 unto you, G5213 that G3754 likewise G3779 joy G5479 shall be G2071 in G1722 heaven G3772 over G1909 one G1520 sinner G268 that repenteth, G3340 more than G2228 over G1909 ninety and nine G1768 just persons, G1342 which G3748 need G2192 G5532 no G3756 repentance. G3341
And G2532 thou G4771 Bethlehem, G965 in the land G1093 of Juda, G2448 art G1488 not G3760 the least G1646 among G1722 the princes G2232 of Juda: G2448 for G1063 out of G1537 thee G4675 shall come G1831 a Governor, G2233 that G3748 shall rule G4165 my G3450 people G2992 Israel. G2474
Awake, H5782 O sword, H2719 against my shepherd, H7462 and against the man H1397 that is my fellow, H5997 saith H5002 the LORD H3068 of hosts: H6635 smite H5221 the shepherd, H7462 and the sheep H6629 shall be scattered: H6327 and I will turn H7725 mine hand H3027 upon the little ones. H6819
For he is our God; H430 and we are the people H5971 of his pasture, H4830 and the sheep H6629 of his hand. H3027 To day H3117 if ye will hear H8085 his voice, H6963

Commentary on John 21 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 21
The evangelist seemed to have concluded his history with the foregoing chapter; but (as St. Paul sometimes in his epistles), new matter occurring, he begins again. He had said that there were many other signs which Jesus did for the proof of his resurrection. And in this chapter he mentions one of these many, which was Christ's appearance to some of his disciples at the sea of Tiberias, in which we have an account,
It is strange that any should suppose that this chapter was added by some other hand, when it is expressly said (v. 24) that the disciple whom Jesus loved is he which testifieth of these things.
Jhn 21:1-14
We have here an account of Christ's appearance to his disciples at the sea of Tiberias. Now,
The evangelist leaves them at dinner, and makes this remark (v. 14): This is now the third time that Jesus showed himself alive to his disciples, or the greater part of them. This is the third day; so some. On the day he rose he appeared five times; the second day was that day seven-night; and this was the third. Or this was his third appearance to any considerable number of his disciples together; though he had appeared to Mary, to the women, to the two disciples, and to Cephas, yet he had but twice before this appeared to any company of them together. This is taken notice of,
Jhn 21:15-19
We have here Christ's discourse with Peter after dinner, so much of it as relates to himself, in which,
Jhn 21:20-25
In these verses, we have,
The evangelist, concluding with Amen, thereby sets to his seal, and let us set to ours, an Amen of faith, subscribing to the gospel, that it is true, all true; and an Amen of satisfaction in what is written, as able to make us wise to salvation. Amen; so be it.
