29 Jesus G2424 answered G611 and G2532 said G2036 unto them, G846 This G5124 is G2076 the work G2041 of God, G2316 that G2443 ye believe G4100 on G1519 him G3739 whom G1565 he hath sent. G649
Now G1161 to him that worketh G2038 is G3049 the reward G3408 not G3756 reckoned G3049 of G2596 grace, G5485 but G235 of G2596 debt. G3783 But G1161 to him that worketh G2038 not, G3361 but G1161 believeth G4100 on G1909 him that justifieth G1344 the ungodly, G765 his G846 faith G4102 is counted G3049 for G1519 righteousness. G1343
I will raise them up H6965 a Prophet H5030 from among H7130 their brethren, H251 like unto thee, and will put H5414 my words H1697 in his mouth; H6310 and he shall speak H1696 unto them all that I shall command H6680 him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever H376 will not hearken H8085 unto my words H1697 which he shall speak H1696 in my name, H8034 I will require H1875 it of him.
For G1063 God G2316 so G3779 loved G25 the world, G2889 that G5620 he gave G1325 his G846 only begotten G3439 Son, G5207 that G2443 whosoever G3956 believeth G4100 in G1519 him G846 should G622 not G3361 perish, G622 but G235 have G2192 everlasting G166 life. G2222 For G1063 God G2316 sent G649 not G3756 his G846 Son G5207 into G1519 the world G2889 to G2443 condemn G2919 the world; G2889 but G235 that G2443 the world G2889 through G1223 him G846 might be saved. G4982 He that believeth G4100 on G1519 him G846 is G2919 not G3756 condemned: G2919 but G1161 he that believeth G4100 not G3361 is condemned G2919 already, G2235 because G3754 he hath G4100 not G3361 believed G4100 in G1519 the name G3686 of the only begotten G3439 Son G5207 of God. G2316
And G1161 he said, G2036 The God G2316 of our G2257 fathers G3962 hath chosen G4400 thee, G4571 that thou shouldest know G1097 his G846 will, G2307 and G2532 see G1492 that Just One, G1342 and G2532 shouldest hear G191 the voice G5456 of G1537 his G846 mouth. G4750 For G3754 thou shalt be G2071 his G846 witness G3144 unto G4314 all G3956 men G444 of what G3739 thou hast seen G3708 and G2532 heard. G191 And G2532 now G3568 why G5101 tarriest thou? G3195 arise, G450 and be baptized, G907 and G2532 wash away G628 thy G4675 sins, G266 calling on G1941 the name G3686 of the Lord. G2962
What G5101 shall we say G2046 then? G3767 That G3754 the Gentiles, G1484 which G3588 followed G1377 not G3361 after righteousness, G1343 have attained G2638 to righteousness, G1343 even G1161 the righteousness G1343 which G3588 is of G1537 faith. G4102 But G1161 Israel, G2474 which followed G1377 after the law G3551 of righteousness, G1343 hath G5348 not G3756 attained G5348 to G1519 the law G3551 of righteousness. G1343
For G1063 they being ignorant G50 of God's G2316 righteousness, G1343 and G2532 going about G2212 to establish G2476 their own G2398 righteousness, G1343 have G5293 not G3756 submitted themselves G5293 unto the righteousness G1343 of God. G2316 For G1063 Christ G5547 is the end G5056 of the law G3551 for G1519 righteousness G1343 to every one G3956 that believeth. G4100

Commentary on John 6 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 6
In this chapter we have,
Jhn 6:1-14
We have here an account of Christ's feeding five thousand men with five loaves and two fishes, which miracle is in this respect remarkable, that it is the only passage of the actions of Christ's life that is recorded by all the four evangelists. John, who does not usually relate what had been recorded by those who wrote before him, yet relates this, because of the reference the following discourse has to it. Observe,
Jhn 6:15-21
Here is,
Jhn 6:22-27
In these verses we have,
Jhn 6:28-59
Whether this conference was with the Capernaites, in whose synagogue Christ now was, or with those who came from the other side of the sea, is not certain nor material; however, it is an instance of Christ's condescension that he gave them leave to ask him questions, and did not resent the interruption as an affront, no, not from his common hearers, though not his immediate followers. Those that would be apt to teach must be swift to hear, and study to answer. It is the wisdom of teachers, when they are asked even impertinent unprofitable questions, thence to take occasion to answer in that which is profitable, that the question may be rejected, but not the request. Now,
Jhn 6:60-71
We have here an account of the effects of Christ's discourse. Some were offended and others edified by it; some driven from him and others brought nearer to him.
