38 For G3754 I came down G2597 from G1537 heaven, G3772 not G3756 to G2443 do G4160 mine own G1699 will, G2307 but G235 the will G2307 of him that sent G3992 me. G3165
But G235 made G2758 himself G1438 of no reputation, G2758 and took upon him G2983 the form G3444 of a servant, G1401 and was made G1096 in G1722 the likeness G3667 of men: G444 And G2532 being found G2147 in fashion G4976 as G5613 a man, G444 he humbled G5013 himself, G1438 and became G1096 obedient G5255 unto G3360 death, G2288 even G1161 the death G2288 of the cross. G4716
Then said H559 I, Lo, I come: H935 in the volume H4039 of the book H5612 it is written H3789 of me, I delight H2654 to do H6213 thy will, H7522 O my God: H430 yea, thy law H8451 is within H8432 my heart. H4578
And G2532 he went G4281 a little G3397 further, G4281 and fell G4098 on G1909 his G846 face, G4383 and G2532 prayed, G4336 saying, G3004 O my G3450 Father, G3962 if G1487 it be G2076 possible, G1415 let G3928 this G5124 cup G4221 pass G3928 from G575 me: G1700 nevertheless G4133 not G3756 as G5613 I G1473 will, G2309 but G235 as G5613 thou G4771 wilt. And G2532 he cometh G2064 unto G4314 the disciples, G3101 and G2532 findeth G2147 them G846 asleep, G2518 and G2532 saith G3004 unto Peter, G4074 What, G3779 could ye G2480 not G3756 watch G1127 with G3326 me G1700 one G3391 hour? G5610 Watch G1127 and G2532 pray, G4336 that G3363 ye enter G1525 not G3363 into G1519 temptation: G3986 the spirit G4151 indeed G3303 is willing, G4289 but G1161 the flesh G4561 is weak. G772 He went away G565 again G3825 the G1537 second time, G1208 and prayed, G4336 saying, G3004 O my G3450 Father, G3962 if G1487 this G5124 cup G4221 may G1410 not G3756 pass away G3928 from G575 me, G1700 except G3362 I drink G4095 it, G846 thy G4675 will G2307 be done. G1096
Then G5119 said I, G2036 Lo, G2400 I come G2240 (in G1722 the volume G2777 of the book G975 it is written G1125 of G4012 me,) G1700 to do G4160 thy G4675 will, G2307 O God. G2316 Above G511 when he said, G3004 G3754 Sacrifice G2378 and G2532 offering G4376 and G2532 burnt offerings G3646 and G2532 offering for G4012 sin G266 thou wouldest G2309 not, G3756 neither G3761 hadst pleasure G2106 therein; which G3748 are offered G4374 by G2596 the law; G3551 Then G5119 said he, G2046 Lo, G2400 I come G2240 to do G4160 thy G4675 will, G2307 O God. G2316 He taketh away G337 the first, G4413 that G2443 he may establish G2476 the second. G1208

Commentary on John 6 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 6
In this chapter we have,
Jhn 6:1-14
We have here an account of Christ's feeding five thousand men with five loaves and two fishes, which miracle is in this respect remarkable, that it is the only passage of the actions of Christ's life that is recorded by all the four evangelists. John, who does not usually relate what had been recorded by those who wrote before him, yet relates this, because of the reference the following discourse has to it. Observe,
Jhn 6:15-21
Here is,
Jhn 6:22-27
In these verses we have,
Jhn 6:28-59
Whether this conference was with the Capernaites, in whose synagogue Christ now was, or with those who came from the other side of the sea, is not certain nor material; however, it is an instance of Christ's condescension that he gave them leave to ask him questions, and did not resent the interruption as an affront, no, not from his common hearers, though not his immediate followers. Those that would be apt to teach must be swift to hear, and study to answer. It is the wisdom of teachers, when they are asked even impertinent unprofitable questions, thence to take occasion to answer in that which is profitable, that the question may be rejected, but not the request. Now,
Jhn 6:60-71
We have here an account of the effects of Christ's discourse. Some were offended and others edified by it; some driven from him and others brought nearer to him.
