2 Speak H1696 unto the children H1121 of Israel, H3478 and say H559 unto them, When ye come H935 into the land H776 which I give H5414 you, then shall the land H776 keep H7673 a sabbath H7676 unto the LORD. H3068
And six H8337 years H8141 thou shalt sow H2232 thy land, H776 and shalt gather H622 in the fruits H8393 thereof:
Then shall the land H776 enjoy H7521 her sabbaths, H7676 as long H3117 as it lieth desolate, H8074 and ye be in your enemies' H341 land; H776 even then shall the land H776 rest, H7673 and enjoy H7521 her sabbaths. H7676 As long as H3117 it lieth desolate H8074 it shall rest; H7673 because it did not rest H7673 in your sabbaths, H7676 when ye dwelt H3427 upon it.
When ye be come H935 into the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 which I give H5414 to you for a possession, H272 and I put H5414 the plague H5061 of leprosy H6883 in a house H1004 of the land H776 of your possession; H272
It shall be unto you a sabbath H7676 of rest, H7677 and ye shall afflict H6031 your souls: H5315 in the ninth H8672 day of the month H2320 at even, H6153 from even H6153 unto even, H6153 shall ye celebrate H7673 your sabbath. H7676
Get thee up H5927 into this mountain H2022 Abarim, H5682 unto mount H2022 Nebo, H5015 which is in the land H776 of Moab, H4124 that is over against H6440 Jericho; H3405 and behold H7200 the land H776 of Canaan, H3667 which I give H5414 unto the children H1121 of Israel H3478 for a possession: H272
And the LORD H3068 said H559 unto him, This is the land H776 which I sware H7650 unto Abraham, H85 unto Isaac, H3327 and unto Jacob, H3290 saying, H559 I will give H5414 it unto thy seed: H2233 I have caused thee to see H7200 it with thine eyes, H5869 but thou shalt not go over H5674 thither.
The heaven, H8064 even the heavens, H8064 are the LORD'S: H3068 but the earth H776 hath he given H5414 to the children H1121 of men. H120

Commentary on Leviticus 25 Matthew Henry Commentary

In token of a peculiar title which God had to this land, and a right to dispose of it, he appointed,
Lev 25:1-7
The law of Moses laid a great deal of stress upon the sabbath, the sanctification of which was the earliest and most ancient of all divine institutions, designed for the keeping up of the knowledge and worship of the Creator among men; that law not only revived the observance of the weekly sabbath, but, for the further advancement of the honour of them, added the institution of a sabbatical year: In the seventh year shall be a sabbath of rest unto the land, v. 4. And hence the Jews collect that vulgar tradition that after the world has stood six thousand years (a thousand years being to God as one day) it shall cease, and the eternal sabbath shall succeed-a weak foundation on which to build the fixing of that day and hour which it is God's prerogative to know. This sabbatical year began in September, at the end of harvest, the seventh month of their ecclesiastical year: and the law was,

We have here the laws concerning servitude, designed to preserve the honour of the Jewish nation as a free people, and rescued by a divine power out of the house of bondage, into the glorious liberty of God's sons, his first-born. Now the law is,
