35 And G2532 the people G2992 stood G2476 beholding. G2334 And G1161 the rulers G758 also G2532 with G4862 them G846 derided G1592 him, saying, G3004 He saved G4982 others; G243 let him save G4982 himself, G1438 if G1487 he G3778 be G2076 Christ, G5547 the chosen G1588 of God. G2316
G1487 Art G1488 thou G4771 the Christ? G5547 tell G2036 us. G2254 And G1161 he said G2036 unto them, G846 If G1437 I tell G2036 you, G5213 ye will G4100 not G3364 believe: G4100 And G1161 if G1437 I also G2532 ask G2065 you, ye will G611 not G3364 answer G611 me, G3427 nor G2228 let me go. G630 Hereafter G3568 G575 shall G2071 the Son G5207 of man G444 sit G2521 on G1537 the right hand G1188 of the power G1411 of God. G2316 Then G1161 said G5346 they all, G3956 Art G1488 thou G4771 then G3767 the Son G5207 of God? G2316 And G1161 he said G2036 unto G4314 them, G846 Ye G5210 say G3004 that G3754 I G1473 am. G1510
And G2532 they that passed by G3899 railed G987 on him, G846 wagging G2795 their G846 heads, G2776 and G2532 saying, G3004 Ah, G3758 thou that destroyest G2647 the temple, G3485 and G2532 buildest G3618 it in G1722 three G5140 days, G2250 Save G4982 thyself, G4572 and G2532 come down G2597 from G575 the cross. G4716 Likewise G1161 G3668 also G2532 the chief priests G749 mocking G1702 said G3004 among G4314 themselves G240 with G3326 the scribes, G1122 He saved G4982 others; G243 himself G1438 he cannot G3756 G1410 save. G4982 Let G2597 Christ G5547 the King G935 of Israel G2474 descend G2597 now G3568 from G575 the cross, G4716 that G2443 we may see G1492 and G2532 believe. G4100 And G2532 they that were crucified G4957 with him G846 reviled G3679 him. G846
Then G5119 were there two G1417 thieves G3027 crucified G4717 with G4862 him, G846 one G1520 on G1537 the right hand, G1188 and G2532 another G1520 on G1537 the left. G2176 And G1161 they that passed by G3899 reviled G987 him, G846 wagging G2795 their G846 heads, G2776 And G2532 saying, G3004 Thou that destroyest G2647 the temple, G3485 and G2532 buildest G3618 it in G1722 three G5140 days, G2250 save G4982 thyself. G4572 If G1487 thou be G1488 the Son G5207 of God, G2316 come down G2597 from G575 the cross. G4716 G1161 Likewise G3668 also G2532 the chief priests G749 mocking G1702 him, with G3326 the scribes G1122 and G2532 elders, G4245 said, G3004 He saved G4982 others; G243 himself G1438 he cannot G3756 G1410 save. G4982 If G1487 he be G2076 the King G935 of Israel, G2474 let him G2597 now G3568 come down G2597 from G575 the cross, G4716 and G2532 we will believe G4100 him. G846 He trusted G3982 in G1909 God; G2316 let him deliver G4506 him G846 now, G3568 if G1487 he will have G2309 him: G846 for G1063 he said, G2036 G3754 I am G1510 the Son G5207 of God. G2316
And they said H559 one H376 to another, H251 Behold, this H1976 dreamer H1167 H2472 cometh. H935 Come H3212 now therefore, and let us slay H2026 him, and cast H7993 him into some H259 pit, H953 and we will say, H559 Some evil H7451 beast H2416 hath devoured H398 him: and we shall see H7200 what will become of his dreams. H2472
Because for thy sake I have borne H5375 reproach; H2781 shame H3639 hath covered H3680 my face. H6440 I am become a stranger H2114 unto my brethren, H251 and an alien H5237 unto my mother's H517 children. H1121 For the zeal H7068 of thine house H1004 hath eaten me up; H398 and the reproaches H2781 of them that reproached H2778 thee are fallen H5307 upon me. When I wept, H1058 and chastened my soul H5315 with fasting, H6685 that was to my reproach. H2781 I made H5414 sackcloth H8242 also my garment; H3830 and I became a proverb H4912 to them. They that sit in H3427 the gate H8179 speak H7878 against me; and I was the song H5058 of the drunkards. H8354 H7941
Let not them that are mine enemies H341 wrongfully H8267 rejoice H8055 over me: neither let them wink H7169 with the eye H5869 that hate H8130 me without a cause. H2600 For they speak H1696 not peace: H7965 but they devise H2803 deceitful H4820 matters H1697 against them that are quiet H7282 in the land. H776 Yea, they opened their mouth H6310 wide H7337 against me, and said, H559 Aha, H1889 aha, H1889 our eye H5869 hath seen H7200 it. This thou hast seen, H7200 O LORD: H3068 keep not silence: H2790 O Lord, H136 be not far H7368 from me. Stir up H5782 thyself, and awake H6974 to my judgment, H4941 even unto my cause, H7379 my God H430 and my Lord. H136 Judge H8199 me, O LORD H3068 my God, H430 according to thy righteousness; H6664 and let them not rejoice H8055 over me. Let them not say H559 in their hearts, H3820 Ah, H1889 so would we have it: H5315 let them not say, H559 We have swallowed him up. H1104
Many H7227 bulls H6499 have compassed H5437 me: strong H47 bulls of Bashan H1316 have beset me round. H3803 They gaped H6475 upon me with their mouths, H6310 as a ravening H2963 and a roaring H7580 lion. H738
But I am a worm, H8438 and no man; H376 a reproach H2781 of men, H120 and despised H959 of the people. H5971 All they that see H7200 me laugh me to scorn: H3932 they shoot out H6358 the lip, H8193 they shake H5128 the head, H7218 saying, He trusted H1556 on the LORD H3068 that he would deliver H6403 him: let him deliver H5337 him, seeing he delighted H2654 in him.

Commentary on Luke 23 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 23
This chapter carries on and concludes the history of Christ's sufferings and death. We have here,
Luk 23:1-12
Our Lord Jesus was condemned as a blasphemer in the spiritual court, but it was the most impotent malice that could be that this court was actuated by; for, when they had condemned him, they knew they could not put him to death, and therefore took another course.
Luk 23:13-25
We have here the blessed Jesus run down by the mob, and hurried to the cross in the storm of a popular noise and tumult, raised by the malice and artifice of the chief priests, as agents for the prince of the power of the air.
Luk 23:26-31
We have here the blessed Jesus, the Lamb of God, led as a lamb to the slaughter, to the sacrifice. It is strange with what expedition they went through his trial; how they could do so much work in such a little time, though they had so many great men to deal with, attendance on whom is usually a work of time. He was brought before the chief priests at break of day (ch. 22:66), after that to Pilate, then to Herod, then to Pilate again; and there seems to have been a long struggle between Pilate and the people about him. He was scourged, and crowned with thorns and contumeliously used, and all this was done in four or five hours' time, or six at most, for he was crucified between nine o'clock and twelve. Christ's persecutors resolve to lose no time, for fear lest his friends at the other end of the town should get notice of what they were doing, and should rise to rescue him. Never any one was so chased out of the world as Christ was, but so he himself said, Yet a little while and ye shall not see me; a very little while indeed. Now as they led him away to death we find,
Luk 23:32-43
In these verses we have,
Luk 23:44-49
In these verses we have three things:-
Luk 23:50-56
We have here an account of Christ's burial; for he must be brought not only to death, but to the dust of death (Ps. 22:15), according to the sentence (Gen. 3:19), To the dust thou shalt return. Observe,
