29 And G1161 Jesus G2424 answered G611 and said, G2036 Verily G281 I say G3004 unto you, G5213 There is G2076 no man G3762 that G3739 hath left G863 house, G3614 or G2228 brethren, G80 or G2228 sisters, G79 or G2228 father, G3962 or G2228 mother, G3384 or G2228 wife, G1135 or G2228 children, G5043 or G2228 lands, G68 for my G1700 sake, G1752 and G2532 the gospel's, G2098
Now the LORD H3068 had said H559 unto Abram, H87 Get thee out H3212 of thy country, H776 and from thy kindred, H4138 and from thy father's H1 house, H1004 unto a land H776 that I will shew H7200 thee: And I will make of thee H6213 a great H1419 nation, H1471 and I will bless H1288 thee, and make H1431 thy name H8034 great; H1431 and thou shalt be a blessing: H1293 And I will bless H1288 them that bless H1288 thee, and curse H779 him that curseth H7043 thee: and in thee shall all families H4940 of the earth H127 be blessed. H1288
By faith G4102 Moses, G3475 when he was come G1096 to years, G3173 refused G720 to be called G3004 the son G5207 of Pharaoh's G5328 daughter; G2364 Choosing G138 rather G3123 to suffer affliction G4778 with the people G2992 of God, G2316 than G2228 to enjoy the pleasures G2192 G619 of sin G266 for a season; G4340 Esteeming G2233 the reproach G3680 of Christ G5547 greater G3187 riches G4149 than G2233 the treasures G2344 in G1722 Egypt: G125 for G1063 he had respect G578 unto G1519 the recompence of the reward. G3405
Who said H559 unto his father H1 and to his mother, H517 I have not seen H7200 him; neither did he acknowledge H5234 his brethren, H251 nor knew H3045 his own children: H1121 for they have observed H8104 thy word, H565 and kept H5341 thy covenant. H1285 They shall teach H3384 Jacob H3290 thy judgments, H4941 and Israel H3478 thy law: H8451 they shall put H7760 incense H6988 before H639 thee, and whole burnt sacrifice H3632 upon thine altar. H4196 Bless, H1288 LORD, H3068 his substance, H2428 and accept H7521 the work H6467 of his hands: H3027 smite H4272 through the loins H4975 of them that rise H6965 against him, and of them that hate H8130 him, that they rise H6965 not H4480 again. H6965
Blessed G3107 are they which are persecuted G1377 for G1752 righteousness' sake: G1343 for G3754 theirs G846 is G2076 the kingdom G932 of heaven. G3772 Blessed G3107 are ye, G2075 when G3752 men shall revile G3679 you, G5209 and G2532 persecute G1377 you, and G2532 shall say G2036 all manner G3956 of evil G4190 G4487 against G2596 you G5216 falsely, G5574 for my sake. G1752 G1700
G1161 Ye G5210 are G2075 they which have continued G1265 with G3326 me G1700 in G1722 my G3450 temptations. G3986 And I G2504 appoint G1303 unto you G5213 a kingdom, G932 as G2531 my G3450 Father G3962 hath appointed G1303 unto me; G3427 That G2443 ye may eat G2068 and G2532 drink G4095 at G1909 my G3450 table G5132 in G1722 my G3450 kingdom, G932 and G2532 sit G2523 on G1909 thrones G2362 judging G2919 the twelve G1427 tribes G5443 of Israel. Commentary on Mark 10 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 10
In this chapter, we have,
Mar 10:1-12
Our Lord Jesus was an itinerant Preacher, did not continue long in a place, for the whole land of Canaan was his parish, or diocese, and therefore he would visit every part of it, and give instructions to those in the remotest corners of it. Here we have him in the coasts of Judea, by the further side of Jordan eastward, as we found him, not long since, in the utmost borders westward, near Tyre and Sidon. Thus was his circuit like that of the sun, from whose light and heat nothing is hid. Now here we have him,
Here is,
Moses tells us,
Mar 10:13-16
It is looked upon as the indication of a kind and tender disposition to take notice of little children, and this was remarkable in our Lord Jesus, which is an encouragement not only to little children to apply themselves to Christ when they are very young, but to grown people, who are conscious to themselves of weakness and childishness, and of being, through manifold infirmities, helpless and useless, like little children. Here we have,
Mar 10:17-31
Mar 10:32-45
Here is,
Note,
Mar 10:46-52
This passage of story agrees with that, Mt. 20:29, etc. Only that there were told of two blind men; here, and Lu. 18:35, only of one: but if there were two, there was one. This one is named here, being a blind beggar that was much talked of; he was called Bartimeus, that is, the son of Timeus; which, some think, signifies the son of a blind man; he was the blind son of a blind father, which made the case worse, and the cure more wonderful, and the more proper to typify the spiritual cures wrought by the grace of Christ, on those that not only are born blind, but are born of those that are blind.
