3 And G2532 as he G846 sat G2521 upon G1519 the mount G3735 of Olives G1636 over against G2713 the temple, G2411 Peter G4074 and G2532 James G2385 and G2532 John G2491 and G2532 Andrew G406 asked G1905 him G846 privately, G2596 G2398
And G2532 when G3753 they drew nigh G1448 unto G1519 Jerusalem, G2414 and G2532 were come G2064 to G1519 Bethphage, G967 unto G4314 the mount G3735 of Olives, G1636 then G5119 sent G649 Jesus G2424 two G1417 disciples, G3101
Then G5119 Jesus G2424 sent G863 the multitude G3793 away, G863 and went G2064 into G1519 the house: G3614 and G2532 his G846 disciples G3101 came G4334 unto him, G846 saying, G3004 Declare G5419 unto us G2254 the parable G3850 of the tares G2215 of the field. G68
And G2532 after G3326 six G1803 days G2250 Jesus G2424 taketh G3880 Peter, G4074 G2532 James, G2385 and G2532 John G2491 his G846 brother, G80 and G2532 bringeth G399 them G846 up G399 into G1519 an high G5308 mountain G3735 apart, G2596 G2398
And G1161 as he G846 sat G2521 upon G1909 the mount G3735 of Olives, G1636 the disciples G3101 came G4334 unto him G846 privately, G2596 G2398 saying, G3004 Tell G2036 us, G2254 when G4219 shall G2071 these things G5023 be? G2071 and G2532 what G5101 shall be the sign G4592 of thy G4674 coming, G3952 and G2532 of the end G4930 of the world? G165
Now G1161 as he walked G4043 by G3844 the sea G2281 of Galilee, G1056 he saw G1492 Simon G4613 and G2532 Andrew G406 his G846 brother G80 casting G906 a net G293 into G1722 the sea: G2281 for G1063 they were G2258 fishers. G231 And G2532 Jesus G2424 said G2036 unto them, G846 Come ye G1205 after G3694 me, G3450 and G2532 I will make G4160 you G5209 to become G1096 fishers G231 of men. G444 And G2532 straightway G2112 they forsook G863 their G846 nets, G1350 and followed G190 him. G846 And G2532 when he had gone G4260 a little G3641 further G4260 thence, G1564 he saw G1492 James G2385 the son G3588 of Zebedee, G2199 and G2532 John G2491 his G846 brother, G80 who G846 also G2532 were in G1722 the ship G4143 mending G2675 their nets. G1350
And G2532 he suffered G863 G3756 no man G3762 to follow G4870 him, G846 save G1508 Peter, G4074 and G2532 James, G2385 and G2532 John G2491 the brother G80 of James. G2385
And G2532 after G3326 six G1803 days G2250 Jesus G2424 taketh G3880 with him Peter, G4074 and G2532 James, G2385 and G2532 John, G2491 and G2532 leadeth G399 them G846 up G399 into G1519 an high G5308 mountain G3735 apart G2596 G2398 by themselves: G3441 and G2532 he was transfigured G3339 before G1715 them. G846
And G2532 James G2385 and G2532 John, G2491 the sons G5207 of Zebedee, G2199 come G4365 unto him, G846 saying, G3004 Master, G1320 we would G2309 that G2443 thou shouldest do G4160 for us G2254 whatsoever G3739 G1437 we shall desire. G154
And G2532 he taketh G3880 with G3326 him G1438 Peter G4074 and G2532 James G2385 and G2532 John, G2491 and G2532 began G756 to be sore amazed, G1568 and G2532 to be very heavy; G85
One G1520 of G1537 the two G1417 which G3588 heard G191 G3844 John G2491 speak, and G2532 followed G190 him, G846 was G2258 Andrew, G406 Simon G4613 Peter's G4074 brother. G80 He G3778 first G4413 findeth G2147 his own G2398 brother G80 Simon, G4613 and G2532 saith G3004 unto him, G846 We have found G2147 the Messias, G3323 which G3739 is, G2076 being interpreted, G3177 the Christ. Commentary on Mark 13 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 13
We have here the substance of that prophetical sermon which our Lord Jesus preached, pointing at the destruction of Jerusalem, and the consummation of all things; it was one of the last of his sermons, and not ad populum-to the people, but ad clerum-to the clergy; it was private, preached only to four of his disciples, with whom his secret was. Here is,

Mar 13:5-13
Our Lord Jesus, in reply to their question, sets himself, not so much to satisfy their curiosity as to direct their consciences; leaves them still in the dark concerning the times and seasons, which the father has kept in his own power, and which it was not for them to know; but gives them the cautions which were needful, with reference to the events that should now shortly come to pass.
Mar 13:14-23
The Jews, in rebelling against the Romans, and in persecuting the Christians, were hastening to their own ruin apace, both efficiently and meritoriously, were setting both God and man against them; see 1 Th. 2:15. Now here we have a prediction of that ruin which came upon them within less than forty years after this: we had it before, Mt. 24:15, etc. Observe,
Mar 13:24-27
These verses seem to point at Christ's second coming, to judge the world; the disciples, in their question, had confounded the destruction of Jerusalem and the end of the world (Mt. 24:3), which was built upon a mistake, as if the temple must needs stand as long as the world stands; this mistake Christ rectifies, and shows that the end of the world in those days, those other days you enquire about, the day of Christ's coming, and the day of judgment, shall be after that tribulation, and not coincident with it. Let those who live to see the Jewish nation destroyed, take heed of thinking that, because the Son of man doth not visibly come in the clouds then, he will never so come; no, he will come after that. And here he foretels,

We have here the application of this prophetical sermon; now learn to look forward in a right manner.
