9 O Israel, H3478 trust H982 thou in the LORD: H3068 he is their help H5828 and their shield. H4043
Trust H982 in him at all times; H6256 ye people, H5971 pour out H8210 your heart H3824 before H6440 him: God H430 is a refuge H4268 for us. Selah. H5542
Trust H982 in the LORD, H3068 and do H6213 good; H2896 so shalt thou dwell H7931 in the land, H776 and verily H530 thou shalt be fed. H7462
Bless H1288 the LORD, H3068 O house H1004 of Israel: H3478 bless H1288 the LORD, H3068 O house H1004 of Aaron: H175 Bless H1288 the LORD, H3068 O house H1004 of Levi: H3878 ye that fear H3373 the LORD, H3068 bless H1288 the LORD. H3068
Now therefore, if ye will obey H8085 my voice H6963 indeed, H8085 and keep H8104 my covenant, H1285 then ye shall be a peculiar treasure H5459 unto me above all people: H5971 for all the earth H776 is mine:
Happy H835 art thou, O Israel: H3478 who is like unto thee, O people H5971 saved H3467 by the LORD, H3068 the shield H4043 of thy help, H5828 and who is the sword H2719 of thy excellency! H1346 and thine enemies H341 shall be found liars H3584 unto thee; and thou shalt tread H1869 upon their high places. H1116
Our soul H5315 waiteth H2442 for the LORD: H3068 he is our help H5828 and our shield. H4043 For our heart H3820 shall rejoice H8055 in him, because we have trusted H982 in his holy H6944 name. H8034
Let Israel H3478 hope H3176 in the LORD: H3068 for with the LORD H3068 there is mercy, H2617 and with him is plenteous H7235 redemption. H6304
Be not a terror H4288 unto me: thou art my hope H4268 in the day H3117 of evil. H7451 Let them be confounded H954 that persecute H7291 me, but let not me be confounded: H954 let them be dismayed, H2865 but let not me be dismayed: H2865 bring H935 upon them the day H3117 of evil, H7451 and destroy H7665 them with double H4932 destruction. Some think this psalm was penned upon occasion of some great distress and trouble that the church of God was in, when the enemies were in insolent and threatening, in which case the church does not so much pour out her complaint to God as place her confidence in God, and triumph in doing so; and with such a holy triumph we ought to sing this psalm.
Psa 115:1-8
Sufficient care is here taken to answer both the pretensions of self and the reproaches of idolaters.
