1 [[A Song H7892 of degrees.]] H4609 Out of the depths H4615 have I cried H7121 unto thee, O LORD. H3068
And said, H559 I cried H7121 by reason of mine affliction H6869 unto the LORD, H3068 and he heard H6030 me; out of the belly H990 of hell H7585 cried H7768 I, and thou heardest H8085 my voice. H6963 For thou hadst cast H7993 me into the deep, H4688 in the midst H3824 of the seas; H3220 and the floods H5104 compassed H5437 me about: all thy billows H4867 and thy waves H1530 passed over H5674 me. Then I said, H559 I am cast out H1644 of thy sight; H5869 yet I will look H5027 again H3254 toward thy holy H6944 temple. H1964
They have cut off H6789 my life H2416 in the dungeon, H953 and cast H3034 a stone H68 upon me. Waters H4325 flowed over H6687 mine head; H7218 then I said, H559 I am cut off. H1504 I called H7121 upon thy name, H8034 O LORD, H3068 out of the low H8482 dungeon. H953
The sorrows H2256 of death H4194 compassed H661 me, and the floods H5158 of ungodly men H1100 made me afraid. H1204 The sorrows H2256 of hell H7585 compassed me about: H5437 the snares H4170 of death H4194 prevented H6923 me. In my distress H6862 I called H7121 upon the LORD, H3068 and cried H7768 unto my God: H430 he heard H8085 my voice H6963 out of his temple, H1964 and my cry H7775 came H935 before H6440 him, even into his ears. H241
The sorrows H2256 of death H4194 compassed H661 me, and the pains H4712 of hell H7585 gat hold H4672 upon me: I found H4672 trouble H6869 and sorrow. H3015 Then called H7121 I upon the name H8034 of the LORD; H3068 O LORD, H3068 I beseech H577 thee, deliver H4422 my soul. H5315
Thou hast laid H7896 me in the lowest H8482 pit, H953 in darkness, H4285 in the deeps. H4688 Thy wrath H2534 lieth hard H5564 upon me, and thou hast afflicted H6031 me with all thy waves. H4867 Selah. H5542
Deliver H5337 me out of the mire, H2916 and let me not sink: H2883 let me be delivered H5337 from them that hate H8130 me, and out of the deep H4615 waters. H4325 Let not the waterflood H4325 H7641 overflow H7857 me, neither let the deep H4688 swallow me up, H1104 and let not the pit H875 shut H332 her mouth H6310 upon me.
[[To the chief Musician H5329 upon Shoshannim, H7799 A Psalm of David.]] H1732 Save H3467 me, O God; H430 for the waters H4325 are come H935 in unto my soul. H5315 I sink H2883 in deep H4688 mire, H3121 where there is no standing: H4613 I am come H935 into deep H4615 waters, H4325 where the floods H7641 overflow H7857 me.
Turn H6437 thee unto me, and have mercy H2603 upon me; for I am desolate H3173 and afflicted. H6041 The troubles H6869 of my heart H3824 are enlarged: H7337 O bring thou me out H3318 of my distresses. H4691 Look H7200 upon mine affliction H6040 and my pain; H5999 and forgive H5375 all my sins. H2403

PSALM 130
Ps 130:1-8. The penitent sinner's hope is in God's mercy only.

3. shouldest mark—or, "take strict account" (Job 10:14; 14:16), implying a confession of the existence of sin.
who shall stand—(Ps 1:6). Standing is opposed to the guilty sinking down in fear and self-condemnation (Mal 3:2; Re 6:15, 16). The question implies a negative, which is thus more strongly stated.
4. Pardon produces filial fear and love. Judgment without the hope of pardon creates fear and dislike. The sense of forgiveness, so far from producing licentiousness, produces holiness (Jer 33:9; Eze 16:62, 63; 1Pe 2:16). "There is forgiveness with thee, not that thou mayest be presumed upon, but feared."
5, 6. wait for the Lord—in expectation (Ps 27:14).
