17 And G2532 the seventh G1442 angel G32 poured out G1632 his G846 vial G5357 into G1519 the air; G109 and G2532 there came G1831 a great G3173 voice G5456 out of G575 the temple G3485 of heaven, G3772 from G575 the throne, G2362 saying, G3004 It is done. G1096
And I heard H8085 the man H376 clothed H3847 in linen, H906 which was upon H4605 the waters H4325 of the river, H2975 when he held up H7311 his right hand H3225 and his left hand H8040 unto heaven, H8064 and sware H7650 by him that liveth H2416 for ever H5769 that it shall be for a time, H4150 times, H4150 and an half; H2677 and when he shall have accomplished H3615 to scatter H5310 the power H3027 of the holy H6944 people, H5971 all these things shall be finished. H3615 And I heard, H8085 but I understood H995 not: then said H559 I, O my Lord, H113 what shall be the end H319 of these things? And he said, H559 Go thy way, H3212 Daniel: H1840 for the words H1697 are closed up H5640 and sealed H2856 till the time H6256 of the end. H7093 Many H7227 shall be purified, H1305 and made white, H3835 and tried; H6884 but the wicked H7563 shall do wickedly: H7561 and none of the wicked H7563 shall understand; H995 but the wise H7919 shall understand. H995 And from the time H6256 that the daily H8548 sacrifice shall be taken away, H5493 and the abomination H8251 that maketh desolate H8074 set up, H5414 there shall be a thousand H505 two hundred H3967 and ninety H8673 days. H3117 Blessed H835 is he that waiteth, H2442 and cometh H5060 to the thousand H505 three H7969 hundred H3967 and five H2568 and thirty H7970 days. H3117 But go thou thy way H3212 till the end H7093 be: for thou shalt rest, H5117 and stand H5975 in thy lot H1486 at the end H7093 of the days. H3117
And G2532 sware G3660 by G1722 him that liveth G2198 for G1519 ever G165 and ever, G165 who G3739 created G2936 heaven, G3772 and G2532 the things that therein are, G1722 G846 and G2532 the earth, G1093 and G2532 the things that therein are, G1722 G846 and G2532 the sea, G2281 and G2532 the things which are therein, G1722 G846 that G3754 there should be G2071 time G5550 no G3756 longer: G2089 But G235 in G1722 the days G2250 of the voice G5456 of the seventh G1442 angel, G32 when G3752 he shall begin G3195 to sound, G4537 G2532 the mystery G3466 of God G2316 should be finished, G5055 as G5613 he hath declared G2097 to his G1438 servants G1401 the prophets. G4396
And G2532 after G3326 that G5023 I looked, G1492 and, G2532 behold, G2400 the temple G3485 of the tabernacle G4633 of the testimony G3142 in G1722 heaven G3772 was opened: G455 And G2532 the seven G2033 angels G32 came G1831 out of G1537 the temple, G3485 having G2192 the seven G2033 plagues, G4127 clothed G1746 in pure G2513 and G2532 white G2986 linen, G3043 and G2532 having their breasts G4738 girded G4024 with G4012 golden G5552 girdles. G2223
And G2532 I saw G1492 an angel G32 come down G2597 from G1537 heaven, G3772 having G2192 the key G2807 of the bottomless pit G12 and G2532 a great G3173 chain G254 in G1909 his G846 hand. G5495 And G2532 he laid hold on G2902 the dragon, G1404 that old G744 serpent, G3789 which G3739 is G2076 the Devil, G1228 and G2532 Satan, G4567 and G2532 bound G1210 him G846 a thousand G5507 years, G2094 And G2532 cast G906 him G846 into G1519 the bottomless pit, G12 and G2532 shut G2808 him G846 up, G2808 and G2532 set a seal G4972 upon G1883 him, G846 that G3363 he should deceive G4105 the nations G1484 no G3363 more, G2089 till G891 the thousand G5507 years G2094 should be fulfilled: G5055 and G2532 after G3326 that G5023 he G846 must G1163 be loosed G3089 a little G3398 season. Commentary on Revelation 16 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 16
In this chapter we have an account of the pouring forth of these vials that were filled with the wrath of God. They were poured out upon the whole antichristian empire, and on every thing appertaining to it.
Rev 16:1-7
We had in the foregoing chapter the great and solemn preparation that was made for the pouring out of the vials; now we have the performance of that work. Here observe,
Rev 16:8-11
In these verses we see the work going on in the appointed order. The fourth angel poured out his vial, and that fell upon the sun; that is, say some, upon some eminent prince of the popish communion, who should renounce their false religion a little while before his utter downfall; and some expect it will be the German emperor. And now what will be the consequence of this? That sun which before cherished them with warm and benign influences shall now grow hot against these idolaters, and shall scorch them. Princes shall use their power and authority to suppress them, which yet will be so far from bringing them to repentance, that it will cause them to curse God and their king, and look upward, throwing out their blasphemous speeches against the God of heaven; they will be hardened to their ruin. The fifth angel poured out his vial, v. 10. And observe,
Rev 16:12-16
The sixth angel poured out his vial; and observe,
Rev 16:17-21
Here we have an account of the seventh and last angel pouring forth his vial, contributing his part towards the accomplishment of the downfall of Babylon, which was the finishing stroke. And here, as before, observe,
