8 Solomon said to God, You have shown great loving kindness to David my father, and have made me king in his place.
Now therefore thus shall you tell my servant David, Thus says Yahweh of Hosts, I took you from the sheep pen, from following the sheep, that you should be prince over my people, over Israel; and I have been with you wherever you went, and have cut off all your enemies from before you; and I will make you a great name, like the name of the great ones who are in the earth.
Nathan said to David, "You are the man. This is what Yahweh, the God of Israel, says: 'I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. I gave you your master's house, and your master's wives into your bosom, and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah; and if that would have been too little, I would have added to you many more such things.
I have found David, my servant. I have anointed him with my holy oil, With whom my hand shall be established. My arm will also strengthen him. No enemy will tax him. No wicked man will oppress him. I will beat down his adversaries before him, And strike those who hate him. But my faithfulness and my loving kindness will be with him. In my name, his horn will be exalted. I will set his hand also on the sea, And his right hand on the rivers. He will call to me, 'You are my Father, My God, and the rock of my salvation!' I will also appoint him my firstborn, The highest of the kings of the earth. I will keep my loving kindness for him forevermore. My covenant will stand firm with him.
