17 Yet he didn't leave himself without witness, in that he did good and gave you{TR reads "us" instead of "you"} rains from the sky and fruitful seasons, filling our hearts with food and gladness."
because that which is known of God is revealed in them, for God revealed it to them. For the invisible things of him since the creation of the world are clearly seen, being perceived through the things that are made, even his everlasting power and divinity; that they may be without excuse.
Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain, and it didn't rain on the earth for three years and six months. He prayed again, and the sky gave rain, and the earth brought forth its fruit.
lest, when you have eaten and are full, and have built goodly houses, and lived therein; and when your herds and your flocks multiply, and your silver and your gold is multiplied, and all that you have is multiplied; then your heart be lifted up, and you forget Yahweh your God, who brought you forth out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage;
Sing to Yahweh with thanksgiving. Sing praises on the harp to our God, Who covers the sky with clouds, Who prepares rain for the earth, Who makes grass grow on the mountains.
Yahweh, how many are your works! In wisdom have you made them all. The earth is full of your riches. There is the sea, great and wide, In which are innumerable living things, Both small and large animals. There the ships go, And leviathan, whom you formed to play there. The pastures are covered with flocks. The valleys also are clothed with grain. They shout for joy! They also sing.
Your loving kindness, Yahweh, is in the heavens. Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. Your righteousness is like the mountains of God. Your judgments are like a great deep. Yahweh, you preserve man and animal. How precious is your loving kindness, God! The children of men take refuge under the shadow of your wings.
> The heavens declare the glory of God. The expanse shows his handiwork. Day after day they pour forth speech, And night after night they display knowledge. There is no speech nor language, Where their voice is not heard. Their voice has gone out through all the earth, Their words to the end of the world. In them he has set a tent for the sun,
