7 "Why does this man speak blasphemies like that? Who can forgive sins but God alone?"
I, even I, am he who blots out your transgressions for my own sake; and I will not remember your sins.
Those who sat at the table with him began to say to themselves, "Who is this who even forgives sins?"
To the Lord our God belong mercies and forgiveness; for we have rebelled against him;
You have heard the blasphemy! What do you think?" They all condemned him to be worthy of death.
The Jews answered him, "We don't stone you for a good work, but for blasphemy: because you, being a man, make yourself God."
Do you say of him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You blaspheme,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God?'
When he had said this, he showed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore were glad when they saw the Lord. Jesus therefore said to them again, "Peace be to you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you." When he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit! Whoever's sins you forgive, they are forgiven them. Whoever's sins you retain, they have been retained."
Who is a God like you, who pardons iniquity, And passes over the disobedience of the remnant of his heritage? He doesn't retain his anger forever, Because he delights in loving kindness.
