he took counsel with his princes and his mighty men to stop the waters of the springs which were outside of the city; and they helped him. You saw the breaches of the city of David, that they were many; and you gathered together the waters of the lower pool; and you numbered the houses of Jerusalem, and you broke down the houses to fortify the wall; you made also a reservoir between the two walls for the water of the old pool. But you didn't look to him who had done this, neither did you have respect for him who purposed it long ago.
Proclaim this among the nations: Prepare war. Stir up the mighty men. Let all the warriors draw near. Let them come up. Beat your plowshares into swords, And your pruning hooks into spears. Let the weak say, "I am strong." Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations, And gather yourselves together." Cause your mighty ones to come down there, Yahweh.
