18 And there are found of the sons of the priests that have settled strange women: of the sons of Jeshua son of Jozadak, and his brethren, Maaseiah, and Eliezer, and Jarib, and Gedaliah;
And ye, ye have turned from the way, Ye have caused many to stumble in the law, Ye have corrupted the covenant of Levi, Said Jehovah of Hosts. And I also, I have made you despised and low before all the people, Because ye are not keeping My ways, And are accepting persons in the law.
and Azariah begat Seraiah, and Seraiah begat Jehozadak; and Jehozadak hath gone in Jehovah's removing Judah and Jerusalem by the hand of Nebuchadnezzar.
And Eli `is' very old, and hath heard all that his sons do to all Israel, and how that they lie with the women who are assembling `at' the opening of the tent of meeting, and he saith to them, `Why do ye things like these? for I am hearing of your evil words from all the people -- these! Nay, my sons; for the report which I am hearing is not good causing the people of Jehovah to transgress. --
`And he taketh a wife in her virginity; widow, or cast out, or polluted one -- a harlot -- these he doth not take, but a virgin of his own people he doth take `for' a wife, and he doth not pollute his seed among his people; for I `am' Jehovah, sanctifying him.'

Chapter 10
In this chapter we have that grievance redressed which was complained of and lamented in the foregoing chapter. Observe,

We are here told,

We have here an account of the proceedings upon the resolutions lately taken up concerning the strange wives; no time was lost; they struck when the iron was hot, and soon set the wheels of reformation a-going.
Ezr 10:15-44
The method of proceeding in this matter being concluded on, and the congregation dismissed, that each in his respective place might gain and give intelligence to facilitate the matter, we are here told,
