¹ And Solomon the son of David was strengthened in his kingdom, and the LORD his God was with him, and magnified him exceedingly.

² Then Solomon spake unto all Israel, to the captains of thousands and of hundreds, and to the judges, and to every governor in all Israel, the chief of the fathers.

³ So Solomon, and all the congregation with him, went to the high place that was at Gibeon; for there was the tabernacle of the congregation of God, which Moses the servant of the LORD had made in the wilderness.

⁴ But the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjathjearim to the place which David had prepared for it: for he had pitched a tent for it at Jerusalem.

⁵ Moreover the brazen altar, that Bezaleel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, he put before the tabernacle of the LORD: and Solomon and the congregation sought unto it.

⁶ And Solomon went up thither to the brazen altar before the LORD, which was at the tabernacle of the congregation, and offered a thousand burnt offerings upon it.

⁷ In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.

⁸ And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast showed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.

⁹ Now, O LORD God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.

¹⁰ Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?

¹¹ And God said to Solomon, Because this was in thine heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, or honor, nor the life of thine enemies, neither yet hast asked long life; but hast asked wisdom and knowledge for thyself, that thou mayest judge my people, over whom I have made thee king:

¹² Wisdom and knowledge is granted unto thee; and I will give thee riches, and wealth, and honor, such as none of the kings have had that have been before thee, neither shall there any after thee have the like.

¹³ Then Solomon came from his journey to the high place that was at Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tabernacle of the congregation, and reigned over Israel.

¹⁴ And Solomon gathered chariots and horsemen: and he had a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he placed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

¹⁵ And the king made silver and gold at Jerusalem as plenteous as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the vale for abundance.

¹⁶ And Solomon had horses brought out of Egypt, and linen yarn: the king's merchants received the linen yarn at a price.

¹⁷ And they fetched up, and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred shekels of silver, and an horse for an hundred and fifty: and so brought they out horses for all the kings of the Hittites, and for the kings of Syria, by their means.

⁴ But ^H61 the ark ^H727 of God ^H430 had David ^H1732 brought up ^H5927 from Kirjathjearim ^H7157 to the place which David ^H1732 had prepared ^H3559 for it: for he had pitched ^H5186 a tent ^H168 for it at Jerusalem. ^H3389

⁵ Moreover the brasen ^H5178 altar, ^H4196 that Bezaleel ^H1212 the son ^H1121 of Uri, ^H221 the son ^H1121 of Hur, ^H2354 had made, ^H6213 he put ^H7760 before ^H6440 the tabernacle ^H4908 of the LORD: ^H3068 and Solomon ^H8010 and the congregation ^H6951 sought ^H1875 unto it.

⁶ And Solomon ^H8010 went up ^H5927 thither to the brasen ^H5178 altar ^H4196 before ^H6440 the LORD, ^H3068 which was at the tabernacle ^H168 of the congregation, ^H4150 and offered ^H5927 a thousand ^H505 burnt offerings ^H5930 upon it.

⁷ In that night ^H3915 did God ^H430 appear ^H7200 unto Solomon, ^H8010 and said ^H559 unto him, Ask ^H7592 what I shall give ^H5414 thee.

⁸ And Solomon ^H8010 said ^H559 unto God, ^H430 Thou hast shewed ^H6213 great ^H1419 mercy ^H2617 unto David ^H1732 my father, ^H1 and hast made me to reign ^H4427 in his stead.

⁹ Now, O LORD ^H3068 God, ^H430 let thy promise ^H1697 unto David ^H1732 my father ^H1 be established: ^H539 for thou hast made me king ^H4427 over a people ^H5971 like the dust ^H6083 of the earth ^H776 in multitude. ^H7227

¹⁰ Give ^H5414 me now wisdom ^H2451 and knowledge, ^H4093 that I may go out ^H3318 and come in ^H935 before ^H6440 this people: ^H5971 for who can judge ^H8199 this thy people, ^H5971 that is so great? ^H1419

¹¹ And God ^H430 said ^H559 to Solomon, ^H8010 Because this was in thine heart, ^H3824 and thou hast not asked ^H7592 riches, ^H6239 wealth, ^H5233 or honour, ^H3519 nor the life ^H5315 of thine enemies, ^H8130 neither yet hast asked ^H7592 long ^H7227 life; ^H3117 but hast asked ^H7592 wisdom ^H2451 and knowledge ^H4093 for thyself, that thou mayest judge ^H8199 my people, ^H5971 over whom I have made thee king: ^H4427

¹⁴ And Solomon ^H8010 gathered ^H622 chariots ^H7393 and horsemen: ^H6571 and he had a thousand ^H505 and four ^H702 hundred ^H3967 chariots, ^H7393 and twelve ^{H8147 H6240} thousand ^H505 horsemen, ^H6571 which he placed ^H3240 in the chariot ^H7393 cities, ^H5892 and with the king ^H4428 at Jerusalem. ^H3389

¹⁵ And the king ^H4428 made ^H5414 silver ^H3701 and gold ^H2091 at Jerusalem ^H3389 as plenteous as stones, ^H68 and cedar trees ^H730 made ^H5414 he as the sycomore trees ^H8256 that are in the vale ^H8219 for abundance. ^H7230

⁴ but the ark of God had David brought up from Kirjath-Jearim, when David prepared for it, for he stretched out for it a tent in Jerusalem;

⁵ and the altar of brass that Bezaleel son of Uri, son of Hur made, he put before the tabernacle of Jehovah; and Solomon and the assembly seek to it.

⁶ And Solomon goeth up thither, on the altar of brass, before Jehovah, that `is' at the tent of meeting, and causeth to ascend upon it a thousand burnt-offerings.

⁷ In that night hath God appeared to Solomon, and saith to him, `Ask -- what do I give to thee?'

⁸ And Solomon saith to God, `Thou hast done with David my father great kindness, and hast caused me to reign in his stead.

⁹ Now, O Jehovah God, is Thy word with David my father stedfast, for Thou hast caused me to reign over a people numerous as the dust of the earth;

¹⁰ now, wisdom and knowledge give to me, and I go out before this people, and I come in, for who doth judge this Thy great people?'

¹¹ And God saith to Solomon, `Because that this hath been with thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, and honour, and the life of those hating thee, and also many days hast not asked, and dost ask for thyself wisdom and knowledge, so that thou dost judge My people over which I have caused thee to reign --

¹² the wisdom and the knowledge is given to thee, and riches and wealth and honour I give to thee, that there hath not been so to the kings who `are' before thee, and after thee it is not so.'

¹³ And Solomon cometh in `from' the high place that `is' in Gibeon to Jerusalem, from before the tent of meeting, and reigneth over Israel,

¹⁴ and Solomon gathereth chariots and horsemen, and he hath a thousand and four hundred chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, and he placeth them in the cities of the chariots, and with the king in Jerusalem.

¹⁵ And the king maketh the silver and the gold in Jerusalem as stones, and the cedars he made as sycamores that `are' in the low country, for abundance.

¹⁶ And the source of the horses that `are' to Solomon `is' from Egypt and from Keva; merchants of the king from Keva take at a price,

¹⁷ and they come up, and bring out from Egypt a chariot for six hundred silverlings, and a horse for fifty and a hundred, and so for all the kings of the Hittites, and the kings of Aram -- by their hand they bring out.

¹⁷ And they fetched up and brought forth out of Egypt a chariot for six hundred [shekels] of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty; and so they brought [them] by their means, for all the kings of the Hittites and for the kings of Syria.

⁴ But the ark of God had been moved by David from Kiriath-jearim to the place which he had made ready for it, for he had put up a tent for it at Jerusalem.

⁵ And the altar of brass which Bezalel, the son of Uri, the son of Hur, had made, was there before the Tent of the Lord; and Solomon and all the people went to give worship there.

⁶ And Solomon went up there to the brass altar before the Lord at the Tent of meeting, offering on it a thousand burned offerings.

⁷ In that night God came to Solomon in a vision, and said to him, Say what I am to give you.

⁸ And Solomon said to God, Great was your mercy to David my father, and you have made me king in his place.

⁹ Now, O Lord God, let your word to David my father come true; for you have made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in number.

¹⁰ Give me now wisdom and knowledge, so that I may go out and come in before this people: for who is able to be the judge of this great people of yours?

¹¹ And God said to Solomon, Because this was in your heart, and you did not make request for money, property, or honour, or for the destruction of your haters, or for long life; but you have made request for wisdom and knowledge for yourself, so that you may be the judge of my people over whom I have made you king:

¹² Wisdom and knowledge are given to you; and I will give you wealth and honour, such as no king has had before you or ever will have after you.

¹³ So Solomon went back from the high place at Gibeon, from before the Tent of meeting, to Jerusalem; and he was king over Israel.

¹⁴ And Solomon got together war-carriages and horsemen; he had one thousand, four hundred carriages and twelve thousand horsemen, which he kept, some in the carriage-towns and some with the king at Jerusalem.

¹⁵ And the king made silver and gold as common as stones in Jerusalem, and cedar like the sycamore-trees of the lowland in number.

¹⁶ And Solomon's horses came out of Egypt; the king's traders got them from Kue at a price.

¹⁷ A war-carriage might be got from Egypt for six hundred shekels of silver, and a horse for a hundred and fifty: they got them at the same rate for all the kings of the Hittites and the kings of Aram.
