23 As for the rest H3499 of the tribes, H7626 from the east H6921 side H6285 unto the west H3220 side, H6285 Benjamin H1144 shall have a H259 portion.
Now the cities H5892 of the tribe H4294 of the children H1121 of Benjamin H1144 according to their families H4940 were Jericho, H3405 and Bethhoglah, H1031 and the valley H6010 of Keziz, H7104 And Betharabah, H1026 and Zemaraim, H6787 and Bethel, H1008 And Avim, H5761 and Parah, H6511 and Ophrah, H6084 And Chepharhaammonai, H3726 and Ophni, H6078 and Gaba; H1387 twelve H8147 H6240 cities H5892 with their villages: H2691 Gibeon, H1391 and Ramah, H7414 and Beeroth, H881 And Mizpeh, H4708 and Chephirah, H3716 and Mozah, H4681 And Rekem, H7552 and Irpeel, H3416 and Taralah, H8634 And Zelah, H6762 Eleph, H507 and Jebusi, H2983 which is Jerusalem, H3389 Gibeath, H1394 and Kirjath; H7157 fourteen H702 H6240 cities H5892 with their villages. H2691 This is the inheritance H5159 of the children H1121 of Benjamin H1144 according to their families. H4940
And they journeyed H5265 from Bethel; H1008 and there was but H5750 a little H3530 way H776 to come H935 to Ephrath: H672 and Rachel H7354 travailed, H3205 and she had hard H7185 labour. H3205 And it came to pass, when she was in hard H7185 labour, H3205 that the midwife H3205 said H559 unto her, Fear H3372 not; thou shalt have this son H1121 also. And it came to pass, as her soul H5315 was in departing, H3318 (for she died H4191 ) that she called H7121 his name H8034 Benoni: H1126 but his father H1 called H7121 him Benjamin. H1144 And Rachel H7354 died, H4191 and was buried H6912 in the way H1870 to Ephrath, H672 which is Bethlehem. H1035
Now these are the names H8034 of the tribes. H7626 From the north H6828 end H7097 to the coast H3027 of the way H1870 of Hethlon, H2855 as one goeth H935 to Hamath, H2574 Hazarenan, H2704 the border H1366 of Damascus H1834 northward, H6828 to the coast H3027 of Hamath; H2574 for these are his sides H6285 east H6921 and west; H3220 a H259 portion for Dan. H1835 And by the border H1366 of Dan, H1835 from the east H6921 side H6285 unto the west H3220 side, H6285 a H259 portion for Asher. H836 And by the border H1366 of Asher, H836 from the east H6921 side H6285 even unto the west H3220 side, H6285 a H259 portion for Naphtali. H5321 And by the border H1366 of Naphtali, H5321 from the east H6921 side H6285 unto the west H3220 side, H6285 a H259 portion for Manasseh. H4519 And by the border H1366 of Manasseh, H4519 from the east H6921 side H6285 unto the west H3220 side, H6285 a H259 portion for Ephraim. Commentary on Ezekiel 48 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 48
In this chapter we have particular directions given for the distribution of the land, of which we had the metes and bounds assigned in the foregoing chapter.
Eze 48:1-30
We have here a very short and ready way taken for the dividing of the land among the twelve tribes, not so tedious and so far about as the way that was taken in Joshua's time; for in the distribution of spiritual and heavenly blessings there is not that danger of murmuring and quarrelling that there is in the participation of the temporal blessings. When God gave to the labourers every one his penny those that were uneasy at it were soon put to silence with, May I not do what I will with my own? And such is the equal distribution here among the tribes. In this distribution of the land we may observe,
Eze 48:31-35
We have here a further account of the city that should be built for the metropolis of this glorious land, and to be the receptacle of those who would come from all parts to worship in the sanctuary adjoining. It is nowhere called Jerusalem, nor is the land which we have had such a particular account of the dividing of any where called the land of Canaan; for the old names are forgotten, to intimate that the old things are done away, behold all things have become new. Now, concerning this city, observe here,
