1 And G2532 when G3753 they came nigh G1448 to G1519 Jerusalem, G2419 unto G1519 Bethphage G967 and G2532 Bethany, G963 at G4314 the mount G3735 of Olives, G1636 he sendeth forth G649 two G1417 of his G846 disciples, G3101
And G2532 when G3753 they drew nigh G1448 unto G1519 Jerusalem, G2414 and G2532 were come G2064 to G1519 Bethphage, G967 unto G4314 the mount G3735 of Olives, G1636 then G5119 sent G649 Jesus G2424 two G1417 disciples, G3101 Saying G3004 unto them, G846 Go G4198 into G1519 the village G2968 over against G561 you, G5216 and G2532 straightway G2112 ye shall find G2147 an ass G3688 tied, G1210 and G2532 a colt G4454 with G3326 her: G846 loose G3089 them, and bring G71 them unto me. G3427 And G2532 if G1437 any man G5100 say G2036 ought G5100 unto you, G5213 ye shall say, G2046 G3754 The Lord G2962 hath G2192 need G5532 of them; G846 and G1161 straightway G2112 he will send G649 them. G846 All G1161 G3650 this G5124 was done, G1096 that G2443 it might be fulfilled G4137 which G3588 was spoken G4483 by G1223 the prophet, G4396 saying, G3004 Tell ye G2036 the daughter G2364 of Sion, G4622 Behold, G2400 thy G4675 King G935 cometh G2064 unto thee, G4671 meek, G4239 and G2532 sitting G1910 upon G1909 an ass, G3688 and G2532 a colt G4454 the foal G5207 of an ass. G5268 And G1161 the disciples G3101 went, G4198 and G2532 did G4160 as G2531 Jesus G2424 commanded G4367 them, G846 And brought G71 the ass, G3688 and G2532 the colt, G4454 and G2532 put G2007 on G1883 them G846 their G846 clothes, G2440 and G2532 they set G1940 G1940 him thereon. G1883 G846 And G1161 a very great G4118 multitude G3793 spread G4766 their G1438 garments G2440 in G1722 the way; G3598 others G1161 G243 cut down G2875 branches G2798 from G575 the trees, G1186 and G2532 strawed G4766 them in G1722 the way. G3598 And G1161 the multitudes G3793 that went before, G4254 and G2532 that followed, G190 cried, G2896 saying, G3004 Hosanna G5614 to the Son G5207 of David: G1138 Blessed G2127 is he that cometh G2064 in G1722 the name G3686 of the Lord; G2962 Hosanna G5614 in G1722 the highest. G5310 And G2532 when he G846 was come G1525 into G1519 Jerusalem, G2414 all G3956 the city G4172 was moved, G4579 saying, G3004 Who G5101 is G2076 this? G3778 And G1161 the multitude G3793 said, G3004 This G3778 is G2076 Jesus G2424 the prophet G4396 of G575 Nazareth G3478 of Galilee. G1056
And G2532 it came to pass, G1096 when G5613 he was come nigh G1448 to G1519 Bethphage G967 and G2532 Bethany, G963 at G4314 the mount G3735 called G2564 the mount of Olives, G1636 he sent G649 two G1417 of his G846 disciples, G3101 Saying, G2036 Go ye G5217 into G1519 the village G2968 over against G2713 you; in G1722 the which G3739 at your entering G1531 ye shall find G2147 a colt G4454 tied, G1210 whereon G1909 G3739 yet never G3762 man G444 sat: G2523 G4455 loose G3089 him, G846 and bring G71 him hither. And G2532 if G1437 any man G5100 ask G2065 you, G5209 Why G1302 do ye loose G3089 him? thus G3779 shall ye say G2046 unto him, G846 Because G3754 the Lord G2962 hath G2192 need G5532 of him. G846 And G1161 they that were sent G649 went their way, G565 and found G2147 even as G2531 he had said G2036 unto them. G846 And G1161 as they G846 were loosing G3089 the colt, G4454 the owners G2962 thereof G846 said G2036 unto G4314 them, G846 Why G5101 loose ye G3089 the colt? G4454 And G1161 they said, G2036 The Lord G2962 hath G2192 need G5532 of him. G846 And G2532 they brought G71 him G846 to G4314 Jesus: G2424 and G2532 they cast G1977 their G1438 garments G2440 upon G1909 G1977 the colt, G4454 and G1977 they set G1913 Jesus G2424 thereon. G1913 And G1161 as he G846 went, G4198 they spread G5291 their G846 clothes G2440 in G1722 the way. G3598 And when he G846 was come nigh, G1448 even G1161 now G2235 at G4314 the descent G2600 of the mount G3735 of Olives, G1636 the whole G537 multitude G4128 of the disciples G3101 began G756 to rejoice G5463 and praise G134 God G2316 with a loud G3173 voice G5456 for G4012 all G3956 the mighty works G1411 that G3739 they had seen; G1492 Saying, G3004 Blessed G2127 be the King G935 that cometh G2064 in G1722 the name G3686 of the Lord: G2962 peace G1515 in G1722 heaven, G3772 and G2532 glory G1391 in G1722 the highest. G5310 And G2532 some G5100 of the Pharisees G5330 from G575 among the multitude G3793 said G2036 unto G4314 him, G846 Master, G1320 rebuke G2008 thy G4675 disciples. G3101 And G2532 he answered G611 and said G2036 unto them, G846 I tell G3004 you G5213 that, G3754 if G1437 these G3778 should hold their peace, G4623 the stones G3037 would immediately cry out. G2896
And G1161 Jesus, G2424 when he had found G2147 a young ass, G3678 sat G2523 thereon; G1909 G846 as G2531 it is G2076 written, G1125 Fear G5399 not, G3361 daughter G2364 of Sion: G4622 behold, G2400 thy G4675 King G935 cometh, G2064 sitting G2521 on G1909 an ass's G3688 colt. G4454 G1161 These things G5023 understood G1097 not G3756 his G846 disciples G3101 at the first: G4412 but G235 when G3753 Jesus G2424 was glorified, G1392 then G5119 remembered they G3415 that G3754 these things G5023 were G2258 written G1125 of G1909 him, G846 and G2532 that they had done G4160 these things G5023 unto him. G846 The people G3793 therefore G3767 that was G5607 with G3326 him G846 when G3753 he called G5455 Lazarus G2976 out of G1537 his grave, G3419 and G2532 raised G1453 him G846 from G1537 the dead, G3498 bare record. G3140 For this G5124 cause G1223 the people G3793 also G2532 met G5221 him, G846 for that G3754 they heard G191 that G846 he had done G4160 this G5124 miracle. G4592 The Pharisees G5330 therefore G3767 said G2036 among G4314 themselves, G1438 Perceive ye G2334 how G3754 ye prevail G5623 nothing? G3756 G3762 behold, G2396 the world G2889 is gone G565 after G3694 him. G846

Commentary on Mark 11 Matthew Henry Commentary
Chapter 11
We are now come to the Passion-Week, the week in which Christ died, and the great occurrences of that week.
Mar 11:1-11
We have here the story of the public entry Christ made into Jerusalem, four or five days before his death. And he came into town thus remarkably,
Christ, thus attended, thus applauded, came into the city, and went directly to the temple. Here was no banquet of wine prepared for his entertainment, nor the least refreshment; but he immediately applied himself to his work, for that was his meat and drink. He went to the temple, that the scripture might be fulfilled; "The Lord whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, without sending any immediate notice before him; he shall surprise you with a day of visitation, for he shall be like a refiner's fire, and like fuller's soap,' Mal. 3:1-3. He came to the temple, and took a view of the present state of it, v. 11. He looked round about upon all things, but as yet said nothing. He saw many disorders there, but kept silence, Ps. 50:21. Though he intended to suppress them, he would not go about the doing of it all on a sudden, lest he should seem to have done it rashly; he let things be as they were for this night, intending the next morning to apply himself to the necessary reformation, and to take the day before him. We may be confident that God sees all the wickedness that is in the world, though he do not presently reckon for it, nor cast it out. Christ, having make his remarks upon what he saw in the temple, retired in the evening to a friend's house at Bethany, because there he would be more out of the noise of the town, and out of the way of being suspected, a designing to head a faction.
Mar 11:12-26
Here is,
Mar 11:27-33
We have here Christ examined by the great Sanhedrim concerning his authority; for they claimed a power to call prophets to an account concerning their mission. They came to him when he was walking in the temple, not for his diversion, but teaching the people, first one company and then another. The Peripatetic philosophers were so called from the custom they had of walking when they taught. The cloisters, or piazzas, in the courts of the temple, were fitted for this purpose. The great men were vexed to see him followed and heard with attention, and therefore came to him with some solemnity, and did as it were arraign him at the bar with this question, By what authority doest thou these things? v. 28. Now observe,
They knew what they thought of this question; they could not but think that John Baptist was a man sent of God. But the difficulty was, what they should say to it now. Men that oblige not themselves to speak as they think (which is a certain rule) cannot avoid perplexing themselves thus.
